Fortunately for my parents my mom could claim Canadian Citizenship on account of her dad being born there if she wanted to. Unfortunately that wouldn't apply to me because she didn't claim it before I was born.
Also to be fair Trudeau isn't doing well in the polls. However his opponent is no Trump. I think some liberal Canadians want to make that connection but it's not fair as far as I can tell. Guy hasn't talked about overturning democratic norms or jailing political opponents.

Canada was actually taking MANY of the same people we were taking H1B visas for. They have a much smaller population. Immigration is a little different there.
It's much easier there, especially for refugees and asylees. Many of the Sikhs there are thing because they claim political persecution by India, not because of h1b. They aren't going there to seek work and now it's stressing their governmental resources.

Crime has always been a concern for me. And only you would consider the over 100,000 Chinese Nationals illegally crossing the Mexican border over the last 4 years to be simple migrants from South America. And US immigrants, per the statistics, commit fewer crimes (lower crime rates) than US citizens.
Ergo: you'll lower our crime rates if you allow more immigration.

Indeed. And this is why the situation has gone unresolved. If Trump didn't scuttle the immigration bill 9 months ago, he'd lose this election. Immigration is the single issue for a material amount of voters, and more broadly represents the "America first" attitude that is resonating with a large amount of voters on the right.

I think it's a problem for the left in America that you have lefty governments around the world that think this way.
