Ohio State and Wisconsin, yes, but can Michigan and Iowa do it next?

Repeating in the Big Ten hasn't been common, outside of Ohio State (2018-2020) and Wisconsin (once).

The college football season ended on Monday, but it's already time to look ahead at next year's calendar.
The Big Ten announced a revised football schedule for 2022 that leaves Michigan's non-conference schedule unaffected but adds significant shuffling to its Big Ten schedule.
Following is the Wolverines’ 2022 schedule:

Sept. 3 Colorado State
Sept. 10 Hawaii
Sept. 17 Connecticut
Sept. 24 Maryland*

Oct. 1 at Iowa*
Oct. 8 at Indiana*
Oct. 15 Penn State*
Oct. 22 Bye Week
Oct. 29 Michigan State*
Nov. 5 at Rutgers*
Nov. 12 Nebraska*
Nov. 19 Illinois*

Nov. 26 at Ohio State*
Dec. 3 at Big Ten Championship Game

Home games (bold) at Michigan Stadium

* Big Ten Conference games

  1. Ohio State coming off a Rose Bowl win and hosting Michigan in the Horseshoe. The Buckeyes have to host Notre Dame to kickoff 2022, but the offense should be good at the skill positions. What will the trenches be like, after losses to NFL?
  2. Michigan has talent, but senior leadership from 2021 has mostly departed and Jim Harbaugh has lost one assistant already to USC (DL coach)?
  3. Michigan State - Mel Tucker opens Year 3, after an outstanding 2021 season despite two losses.
  4. The West likely deserves the next 3 or 4 spots here, right? Iowa is the defending champion, but Wisconsin continues to be one of the teams that gives Iowa real challenges, especially on defense?
  5. Wisconsin hasn't won the West, since 2019, but QB Graham Mertz does return, absent his top TE and receivers. Paul Chryst has had two rocky seasons in Madison. DC Jim Leonard is outstanding. RB had a young stud back, but what about the rest of the make up for 2022?
  6. Minnesota returns their OC from 2019, when QB Tanner Morgan shined, but the OL has to be rebuilt, while the RB room is as strong and any room in B1G outside Columbus?
  7. Purdue has Iowa's number, since the Hawks last won in 2019. The Big Ten helped Iowa with the schedule reshuffle for 2022, but Hawks still need to get first win in West Lafayette in the Jeff Brohm era. Both games there were one possession games, unlike at Kinnick in 2021.
  8. Penn State has had back to back low seasons under James Franklin. QB Sean Clifford is back. But, plenty of questions do remain, with teams in the East improving?
  9. Nebraska was 3-9, and basically lost 9 heartbreakers, with the one non-one possession game, still very competitive with Ohio State, who is replaced with Michigan.
The Big Ten in 2022 should be very interesting.

The Big 3 in the SEC will get plenty of play: Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M and could Arkansas continue to move upward into a Top 10 candidate?

The ACC has Clemson and Pitt hopes to reload.

The Big 12 have Baylor and Oklahoma State, with Oklahoma and Texas trying to find right stuff again?

Pac 12 will bring Utah and Oregon to the conversation, maybe?

2022 should be interesting.
