The last three classes have fit nicely together. What positions, and who's left on the board that is a 'must'?

I think we only take 4 more. Good shot at Fox (DE) and Carter (TE). Bell maybe but will know late in the process. Henrich would really be a great get but unfortunately I think he'll be wearing a red uniform. Those 4 and the Hawks would have a top 20 class

No idea what we have because I do not follow recruiting ever..........

But I would take another quality DT, LB, or IOL.

I am thinking this is the year they don't get to 20. They have shown comfort in taking up to 3 over and weeding things out. They are at 3 over for 2019 right now. As always, there are injuries and struggles to make the depth chart, but I can not see them going too much deeper than that. So, I will guess they take only 3-4 more.

My guess is that they will take 1st to commit TE and DL of the remaining TE and DL targets.

THEN will hold the remaining spots and shoot for the moon with their top priorities Bell and Henrich.

Miss on them, and it will depend on room, emerging needs, or talents.

Bell ain’t gonna happen

This will probably get laughed at but after TE ILB and DL...
1) offensive playmaker - best available for rb/wr
2) PK stud who may also be able to punt
3) Dual threat QB... I love all current future committed QBs...but would like to see if it was just Brad Banks or a key aspect to diversified offense with another dual threat. Do you remember the called QB draws with him?

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I think there's been hints of a RB headed to a JUCO, so that would open another ship.

Who to concentrate on next will depend on which of our "commits" decommits.. Long time until signing day.

Last year Iowa took 24 (when you count Sargent), who predicted that?
This year it is to Kirk's advantage to take 20 because of the quality available to him. He's smart, and Iowa will take 20. Not sure what positions will be filled. Certainly WR will be a priority.

What is our priority? Players who have greater potential than what we currently have...no matter what position...also keeping an eye on positional depth needs of WR, TE, DT/DE, LB.
I am of the opinion of the P & K positions be walk-on-prove yourself for a schollie. We can't waste schollies on hit and misses.

I'm looking for a little more info on Carter. He might be our guy and hopefully one of those ultimate hybrid TE's like Jimmy Graham. He must be somewhat under the radar right now. Comes from good stock tho.

Get those four and Iowa still won’t crack the top 30. But I’d be extremely happy with the class.

Cameron Baker from Council Bluffs looks to love Iowa. Would he be a take?

I’m going to say this Heinrich would be a great get but with Dillion Doyle slotted for mlb after jones leaves could have the coaches. It pursuinng the singal color

A DB/WR hybrid would be a nice find now minus Manny. There's a long time until signing day and things happen as we just learned.

I see that... crap and I thought he could rebound from his sophomore slump.. I hope he is staying but best wishes to him if he decides to opt somewhere else

Likewise, but he is likely sizing up the competition......including the new guys.....Never a bad sign....rather have the scholly if that is the case.

Terry Roberts will be an adequate replacement for Rugamba if the tweet of death theory applies that He is leaving the team.

Yeah, the fact that Roberts worked with Jovon means that he's already likely been receiving some Phil-inspired training. That definitely ought to give him an extra leg up on the competition ... both in terms of knowing what to expect ... but also in terms of getting down some of the technique that Phil likes to emphasize.

Where the number lands is typically a reflection of attrition (and whether guys bolt early for the pros). We lost 2 QBs to attrition - due to Stanley's ascension. Furthermore, we lost 2 guys somewhat unexpectedly to early entrance to the NFL. Lastly, medical issues with Toks was more than slightly unexpected too.

You combine the above scenarios with our "normal" attrition rate ... that is how the number climbed to as large as it got.

Now, if you look at the 2018 season .... there is no transition at QB ... thus, it is less likely that we'll see attrition there this year. How many guys will have unexpected medical conditions that could cut their football careers short? Given that on an average year we don't have any such guys ... the likelihood is that the number will be zero. Lastly, how many guys will leave (unexpectedly) early to the NFL? Most prognosticators suggest that Fant and A. Nelson are the most likely candidates there - however, I'd honestly be surprised if Nelson leaves early.

Thus, my best estimate is that we'll likely average attrition numbers plus the addition of at least one guy bolting early to the NFL. I'm not certain if that is enough attrition to have the '19 class swell to 20.

As a disclaimer, I think the staff has put together a really good class this year, especially at O Line and RB. Having said that, there is no way Iowa gets anywhere near a top-20 class this year. Last year's group had 22 kids, including four 4* players (2019 has none yet). That class tied Wisconsin for 40th. They would probably need 2 5* and 2 high 4* players for the final spots to get anywhere near 20th in the rankings.

You can see it in His HS tape.

I think 18 is the number Iowa takes.

Lost my train of thought...sorry!

A need for speed .. and another CB. Riley Moss is a blue shirt for the safety spot. Belton is the only CB in this class, er right? Castro is a safety.

I see 5 more spots now. If Heinrich and Bell definite takes if they commit. TE Zion Carter - a wait and see offer (willing to chance for a guy with a larger BB resume and a father with major NFL talent).

My 3 names to consider and why:

1) ATH Kendall Abdur-Rahman (Edwardsville, IL) - AJ Epenesa's old HS teammate- Wisky, ND notices: Great speed 4.54 ET 40, WR and CB possibly.

2) ATH JaCardia Wright (St. Teresa,Decatur, IL) - Makes me think of Amari Spievey (not sure why); CB/RB/DB - just get on the bus (Normism) - Something about his demeanor fits the Iowa mold of toughness and work ethic. Really likes Iowa.

3) Josh DeBerry - CB (Warren, MI) - Iowa was still in his top three and I'd expect a chip on his shoulder as in-state programs (MSU and UM) has slow played their interest In DeBerry and Michigan has 3 DBs in the fold.
