125 (10) Lee 7-1 vs (4) Piccininni 11-2
133 Laux 9-3/Glynn 6-5 vs (8) Brock 14-2
141 Happel 10-6 vs (4) Heil 14-2
149 (2) Sorensen 13-0 vs (11) Martinez 13-4
157 (2) Kememer 14-0 vs Blaylock 11-5
165 (12) Marinelli 7-0 vs (7) Rogers 11-2
174 (19) Gunther vs (10) Smith 12-3
184 Downey/Bowman 8-4 vs Moore 10-4
197 (5) Wilcke 13-0 vs (4) Weigle 3-0
Hwt (3) Stoll 12-0 vs (11) White 12-1

Obviously Downey wrestling at 184 would really help out in this big dual meet. 133/141 does not look promising for the Hawks ... need to stay off their backs. Look forward to the matchups at 125, 149, 165 & 197. Iowa can win this dual meet. Need bonus points from Kememer and Stoll. Need Marinelli and Wilcke to win those big matches. Curious as to your thoughts Hawk fans. Go Hawks!!!

Am I the only person that thinks Lee will have no problem with Picc? Gilman won by Maj, fall, 7pt dec last year. I don’t think picc gives Lee any problems.
I hesitate to make any assumptions this early in Spencer's career. Also, Okie State tends to be very strategic, and I think we'll see Picc try to replicate what Bresser did. When you have a talented opponent staying away like that, the match can end up closer than you might expect, and anything can happen as time runs out, as we saw at Midlands. However, an opponent is unlikely to get away with much stalling in Carver, which works to our advantage. At Nationals, however, it's a different story (sadly).

If memory serves, didnt' Lee roll Picc not too long ago in freestyle? (I know it's different, but I was thinking they'd wrestled before...)

125 (10) Lee 7-1 vs (4) Piccininni 11-2
Lee by major 4-0
133 Laux 9-3/Glynn 6-5 vs (8) Brock 14-2
Go with Glynn from here on out... Brock WMD 4-4
141 Happel 10-6 vs (4) Heil 14-2
Heil WMD 4-8
149 (2) Sorensen 13-0 vs (11) Martinez 13-4
Sorensen Dec 7-8
157 (2) Kememer 14-0 vs Blaylock 11-5
Kem by Major 11-8
165 (12) Marinelli 7-0 vs (7) Rogers 11-2
Carver magic 14-8
174 (19) Gunther vs (10) Smith 12-3
I could see Smith's speed causing issues early, Gunther comes back out of Major trouble 14-11
184 Downey/Bowman 8-4 vs Moore 10-4
Bowman with the Carver magic 17-11
197 (5) Wilcke 13-0 vs (4) Weigle 3-0
Personally Wilcke is too high right now, a major is possible but Weigle by DEC 17-14
Hwt (3) Stoll 12-0 vs (11) White 12-1
Stoll with the OT takedown/stall call 20-14

A lot on here are saying Fix is dictating what weight Picc will be at next year. If Fix is that far ahead of Picc that it’s already a forgone conclusion that he decides then Spencer has to be that far ahead as well. Plus now he’s had a guy like Bresser and knows how to deal with it. And Picc isn’t anywhere close to the speed of Bresser.

Heil won’t score 8 points so a major is out of the question.

I agree. Just don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Have a feeling Spencer will still manage to outperform expectations in many cases.

You’re most likely right to temper expectations....myself I’m not that reasonable....I think Lee dominates this kid if he can get his hands on him and takes the kids spot in the rankings... be nice if we had the same ref we had Friday....it’s a damn shame that the state of folkstyle is such that a talented wrestler like Lees success is as dependent as it is on referees doing their job correctly

Speaking of freestyle, with the new out of bounds rule I feel even more strongly about a push out in collegiate wrestling. Only from neutral, if no scoring occurs and either wrestler goes out of bounds then whoever goes out first gives up a point.

I’m all for that the way it is now sometimes the more aggressive wrestler gets nailed for pushing a guy out....I’m all for any rule changes that reverse the trend of wrestlers winning by stalling.... he’ll if it was up to me they would wrestle freestyle from high school on.... the way they changed freestyle rules has made it a blast to watch

Okie's heavyweight is ~230 but he has good movement. I doubt he gets stalled out and he could pose a match up problem for Big Sam.

If the guy gives up over 50 pounds to Stoll, I like our chances. He won’t dare to attack legs nor lock up with Sammy if he knows what’s good for him.

With Heil gone next year Brock will go 41 and I think Fix will be at 33 with Picc staying at 25.

I think Picc will be his own worst enemy against Lee. The more you open up the more Lee is going to score. I predict a Major coming at 125 for the Hawks. I think we win at 125, 149, 157 and 285 for sure. 165 and 197 are the two biggest matches IMO that could decide the dual. 184 favors OSU right now but would definitely be Downey's to lose if he is wrestling for Iowa. Should be another great dual with an outstanding rival. Can't wait!

I’m a guitar picker and singer (in my spare time). Occasionally, one of my partners will say, this is an easy song. I always say, “Gee, I have to try my hardest on all of them.” Nothing's easy.

I think Fix is 125. In an interview he has said he hasn't grown in awhile. I also think he sees himself as the US 57 kg wrestler. Things could change but I would be surprised to see him at 133 next year.

125 is going to become harder and harder for him as time goes by with one hour weight-ins. Time will tell. Won't surprise me if he wrestled 125 or 133.
