How did your relative do at Iowa’s camp?I have zero clue but 6-9 almost seems too tall.
I have a relative that was massive as well and growing up everyone had him pegged to play D1 and maybe even the NFL.
The dude literally got too tall/big. Just couldn't move well.
Yup. 6’5-6’6 is probably the “perfect” height for an OL (though centers are often several inches shorter). You have to be a freakish athlete to perform at an elite level if you’re much taller than that - guys like Orlando Pace and Jonathan Ogden in particular.I have zero clue but 6-9 almost seems too tall.

315-325 imoSo in order to maintain optimal quickness against edge rushers, would Cannon’s weight be best at 325 (when eventually he’s ready to play)?
Pretty sure he went actually. Went to Wisconsin and some others. How did your relative do at Iowa’s camp?
Yep, needs some S&C.Looks like he’s got a lot of potential. Could be good after a couple years of Iowa S&C.
Regardless, the Iowa staff sees something they like in Cannon. And when a team offers a guy in camp, that usually bodes well for the future.Pretty sure he went actually. Went to Wisconsin and some others.
Has a rivals recruiting profile and everything.
Once again, he got too big.
NoWith an expected tremendous OL class in which he is 1 of 5(?), and in light of Iowa's recruiting mojo at OL for future classes, any chance Leonard moves to DL? ..... 7 foot wing span has the potenetial to disrupt passing lanes.
Cannon is a multi year project. If he pans out, he could take over at the other tackle spot once KP jumps to the NFL.With an expected tremendous OL class in which he is 1 of 5(?), and in light of Iowa's recruiting mojo at OL for future classes, any chance Leonard moves to DL? ..... 7 foot wing span has the potenetial to disrupt passing lanes.
Is Cannon, Harding (BB) and Freeman (BB) all from same area? I know Harding and Freeman are teammate and/or on same AAU team. Was thinking there was a 4th kid from same area going to Iowa on track schollie...wow, lots of Hawks coming from IL!
I admit I had the same thought. That said, these guys are going to keep doing their job until it’s not their job. So really, we don’t know anything. Two takeaways…
…
2. I’m assuming there will be no change in the o-line coaching position.
There's a reason you don't see many 6'8"-6'9" linemen in the NFL. It's all about leverage. Guys can get up underneath you if you're too upright.Yup. 6’5-6’6 is probably the “perfect” height for an OL (though centers are often several inches shorter). You have to be a freakish athlete to perform at an elite level if you’re much taller than that - guys like Orlando Pace and Jonathan Ogden in particular.
I fear you're correct.Two takeaways…
1. That’s one tall dude

The only explanation is no one wants to join the program with an aging HC.
But the sunshine pumpers think another year of experience will make our OLine better.
The difference is there won't be a huge dropoff when he leaves. Compare Iowa's likely situation to when Fry left. It took 3-4 years to recover. That's why the longer KF stays , the longer the rebuild.Nick Saban is 71 years old...
Are teams that just won a bowl game in rebuild mode? Get a clueThe difference is there won't be a huge dropoff when he leaves. Compare Iowa's likely situation to when Fry left. It took 3-4 years to recover. That's why the longer KF stays , the longer the rebuild.
A team that scored 7 offensive points sure seems like it. Against a team without their starting QB and running back, no less. Are teams that just won a bowl game in rebuild mode? Get a clue
Does everyone realize this commitment was 7 months ago?Two takeaways…

I didn’t realize that their starting QB and RB played defense. Oh, btw, Iowa was starting their 3rd string QB.A team that scored 7 offensive points sure seems like it. Against a team without their starting QB and running back, no less.
You think Iowa gets not one, but two, pick 6s if Kentucky's starting QB plays?I didn’t realize that their starting QB and RB played defense. Oh, btw, Iowa was starting their 3rd string QB.
On offense, yesAre teams that just won a bowl game in rebuild mode? Get a clue
OMG you are ****ing obtuse. It’s what I’ve come to expect from OT rejects. You think Iowa gets not one, but two, pick 6s if Kentucky's starting QB plays?
LOL
is this the delayed, aforementioned, long-armed hammer drop I have been hearing about?Does everyone realize this commitment was 7 months ago?
Well, in HS basketball, you can't teach 6'9". LOL I went to a 1A school back in the early 1980's and we had a 6'8" center, and the next tallest conference center was 6'4" and our coach always said you can't teach 6'8".I see Leonard popped for 35 in game last week.
Yep, totally understand the commitment was months ago, but when you send his future position coach to a game this week it implies that there will be no coaching change at that position.Does everyone realize this commitment was 7 months ago?
