Question for people who play more golf than me.

If I have a box of new (meaning never used, I guess) Callaway golf balls in my closet (indoors, climate controlled) that are 5 years old, are they still good to use, or should I discard them and get new ones?

Thanks in advance, and here's my pre-payment for your time:

If you need to ask this question, they won’t make a bit of difference in your game.
True, there's a lot of flaws that can't be addressed by getting new golf balls. There are some things that can be compensated for with advances in technology. If new balls can add 10 yards, then that's at least something. It might be 10 yards deeper into the trees, but still...

I think you’re fine. I use exclusively old balls I find in the woods/ponds. I haven’t bought a box of balls in years.

One of the hauls from my late father in laws bin-o-shit that my wife got shipped to the house were boxes of old maxflis MD90’s from delta air lines. They had to be 20-25 years old but I couldn’t tell the difference especially hitting over water when I’d half expected to lose them anyways.

You should do a science experiment.

Go buy a new sleeve of the same brand/model of balls, and take your old balls and the new balls out to the driving range, and plot your results in Excel and report back.

There's no way my swing is nearly consistent enough to provide accurate results! It'd be like a hit distribution chart for a baseball player that can hit to all fields.

Looks like you hit the ball to all fields?

They’re good, but I’m also the guy that buys the recycled pack of 50 balls off Amazon

Recently found a guy who sells used golf balls that lives close by. 50 for $20. Nike, Callaway, Titleist, etc. A bunch of them have logos like Rockwell Collins, UFG, etc.
