I keep hearing this said about fullbacks like young Mr. Pottebaum. Perhaps because I'm lots older, I think old school fullbacks are ones who were actually used a lot in the run game and not just for blocking and two or so touches a game. I'm referring back to NFL guys like Jim Taylor, Jim Brown, Rick Caseres and college guys like Joe "the jet" Williams, Bob Ferguson, Bob White, and Sam "the bam" Cunningham(the man who convinced Bear Bryant it was time for black players in the SEC). Even Hayden Fry used fullbacks such as Norm Granger, Owen Gill(who also played running back), David Hudson, Kent Kahl in the running game. We might even mention one of Ferentz' first fullbacks, Jeremy Allen. Maybe I'm just too old and too sensitive.
