Iowa field hockey kept the perfect start to their season going last week, picking up a 2-0 win over #14 Michigan. The match was tied for a half, but Iowa pulled ahead when Miranda Jackson took advantage of a Michigan turnover and deposited the ball in the back of the net. Alex Wesneski added a second goal and the Iowa defense held firm to close out the shutout win. It was an impressive victory against a talented and physical Wolverine squad. The Hawks have now shown that they can win games by blowing opponents out and by playing a slower, more physical game. They'll need to keep up both as they continue through the gauntlet that is conference play in the Big Ten.

Elsewhere, Iowa soccer went 0-1-1 on the week, falling 1-0 to Wisconsin and battling Minnesota to a scoreless draw. Iowa volleyball dropped a pair of matches to ranked opponents but pushed #12 Minnesota to five sets and hung tough with #21 Ohio State. Iowa golf competed in tournaments on the men's (Chicago Highlands Collegiate) and women's (Badger Invitational) sides as well.
