Hawkeye Baseball couldn't have dreamt up a better start to their season, which got underway over the weekend. Game 1 was won by the Hawks on a walk-off Grand Slam and Iowa followed it up with two dominating performances, led by a pitching staff that gave up just three runs over 30 innings on the weekend. Brody Brecht was a standout, pitching five perfect innings in Saturday's win over Quinnipiac while racking up ten strikeouts. Three games are hardly conclusive evidence, but the pitching staff looked filthy all weekend and the offense wasn't far behind. Keaton Anthony is raking early at the plate and newcomer Brennen Dorighi came up big in his first games as a Hawkeye.

Elsewhere, Hawkeye Gymnastics scored another win, this time over Rutgers, Iowa Track and Field continued their push toward the Big Ten Championships with another slew of top-10 times and personal bests, the Iowa Softball team split a four game weekend, and Iowa Swimming and Diving competed in the Big Ten Conference Championships.
