It was a tough week for Hawkeye Olympic sports, but not without silver linings. Iowa Volleyball picked up its third conference win of the season, sweeping Rutgers, and took a set off of top-10 Purdue. Hawkeye soccer suffered their first defeat of the year, falling 2-1 to Wisconsin, before bouncing back to shut out a Rutgers team on a double-digit undefeated streak of its own.

While the loss for the soccer team is disappointing, the group showed strong resilience to bounce back so decisively in their next match and still have all of their season's goals in front of them. Iowa volleyball is still a ways away from the top teams in the Big Ten, but they've shown marked improvement from last year and even within this season. The young standouts on both teams (Malu Garcia for volleyball and Berit Parten for soccer) are showing that the future continues to be bright for Iowa sports.
