Omaha Biliew Unofficial Visit is June 7

If I remember he only scored about 10 pts a game last year. I hear he is athletic, but shouldn't a star center do more than that????

He's not a Center. He's a 6-7 wing that can guard multiple positions. For those saying he's selfish or lazy, he was a terrific teammate at Waukee, did all the dirty work and didn't demand the ball and let DeVries and Sandfort get most of the shots. MoKan is a top 5-10 AAU team in the country and he is a top 10 player. Obviously this is not the kind of player the Hawks get based on history, but agree w/Ronman, let's stop w/the we didn't want him, lazy, etc. Every school in the country is after him.

These posts are beginning to sound like, "Well we didn't want him anyway!"
I would certainly take a chance on the Omaha if he wanted to be a Hawk. I fully expect that McCaffery has dealt with all kinds of player mentalities before and would be able to use the young man both to his and our benefit.
Oh, I would definitely take Omaha if he wants to be a Hawk for a while. I would just proceed with caution. We have very good team chemistry and you don’t want to jeopardize that.

“IF” .... he in fact has an ego. Then he’ll end up at Kentucky - they get the majority of guys with egos. And then Calipari can’t figure out how to get all those egos to mesh.

I think most people are being realistic.

1) When he exits High School in 2023 he likely will be eligible for the NBA Draft (the NBA Players have to be on board and approve the current proposal, which would make 2022 High School kids eligible for the NBA Draft)

2) If not eligible for the 2023 Draft, he likely goes to the G League, where he would make over $500,000 in one year while preparing for the 2024 NBA Draft

3) If he's not eligible for the 2023 NBA Draft & he does not go the one year G League route, he likely goes to Kansas (they will give him the keys) or Kentucky (Omaha gushes over how Cal puts players in the NBA).

Having to go to college for 1 year seems like the worst case scenario for him. All his focus (and likely his "trainer's" focus) appears to be getting to the NBA asap.

Look, I have no problem with whatever the guy does. But let’s quit with the trash talking of the guy. All I’m saying is he’s a guy any team would want.

Let's not go overboard with this "Cal puts players into the NBA" crap. The kids that do make it come to Kentucky NBA ready and are just spending their required one year in college at a place designed to pamper them. Seems like half the time, with all that individual talent, Calipari can barely put together a cohesive unit. And there are a lots of asterisks on Cal's wiki page.

Well said. Most of Cals guys have 1 foot out the door as they were ready for the pros but needed a year because that’s the rule. He didn’t develop anyone. They come to him ready. It’s a total load of shit these guys are selling.

does his trainer therefore have Omaha under some kind of unwritten, wink-wink contract, where he hopes to profit in the near future?

If I’m understanding what you’re suggesting, I highly doubt it.

I am not sure when he came to the US but it’s been at least since he was 11 or so, and odds are his guardians had no clue of his potential and simply wanted to help people have a better life (he has a cousin here too).

this doesn’t totally answer your question as I’m not sure who the “trainer” is… it is possible there’s an influencer of some sort hoping to cash in? Perhaps as there’s certainly a pot of money awaiting Omaha, but from what I know he’s been surrounded by great people who already have comfort and one family he’s spent time with is quite successful.

I agree with you.

I just wish these prospects would agree with you.

A selfish or me first player can ruin team morale faster than anything. I am not saying Omaha would be that way, but I would need to know that any player that I recruited would buy into the team first before I would recruit them. I played in college on a team with a superstar and everything had to be about him. He flunked out. The team was 10 times better after he left.
