Couldn't help but watch some of Iowa's last Final Four game--1980 against Louisville in Indianapolis at the old Market Square Arena.
In some regards, seeing Ronnie Lester and Kenny Arnold out there seems like just yesterday.
Guard play is what the tourney is about and no wonder Iowa made the Final Four that year as their back court duo of Lester and Arnold was about as good as anyone in the country that year.
Wow was Daryl Griffith of Louisville a stud and especially in this game against Iowa. He scored 18 of Louisville's first 22 points in the game.
I think Ronnie Lester had 10 of Iowa's first 12 points, and hadn't missed a shot, when he reinjured his knee about half way through the first half---and with that, he not only didn't return, but his Iowa career ended.
I feel bad for those that never saw Ronnie play or realized just how incredible of a player he was.
