I firmly believe that Micah Jordan is better than Collica. That said Collica wrestled an extremely strategic match against Sorensen, in which he mitigated putting himself in dangerous situations. That was a prototypical Dean Heil match. Collica has clearly been learning from the low scoring NCAA Champ. I understand some people think that style of wrestling is boring. Others think it should be penalized (stalling), in order to increase action and scoring. It does, however you feel about it, work.
Now, this match between Micah Jordan and Sorensen has much more on the line. Baring some sort of unforeseen collapse by Collica he has all be secured himself the 2nd or 3rd seed, which is of course important because it guarantees separation from #1 seed Retherford. Somehow, Micah Jordan who was a top 10 PfP recruit in the country coming out of high school is flying under the radar. He has always been somewhat in his brother Bo's very long shadow (older, #1 recruit, always viewed as the best Jordan), but I remember watching him beat Dean Heil twice in High School his Junior year when Heil was a Senior, this after two years of Heil soundly beating him, three times his Sophomore year. Micah has continually gotten better. I believe Micah and Sorensen are the 2nd and 3rd best wrestlers at this weight in the country.
This is the match I am looking forward to the most. Followed closely by Martin/Brooks and than Clark/Tomasello.
BTW: Coach Tom Ryan said Bo Jordan was available to wrestle against Maryland if necessary. He is continually dealing with a lingering "turf toe" injury that he sustained in High School. Unfortunately, there is no solution to heal this injury. It is just something that he must deal with. It is incredibly painful for him to push off that area of his foot even under the best of circumstances. Sometimes, however, it is even worse and even more painful, at those times Bo has to take some time off. He has been wrestling through this injury for years now though and despite it being painful he has not let it slow him down too much.
