IOWA’s Revenue nationally is only behind these schools

#1Ohio State, #2Texas,#3 Alabama,#4 Michigan,#5 Georgia, #6LSU, #7A&M, #8Florida, #9Penn St., #10Oklahoma,#11 Auburn,#12 Michigan St., #13Indiana, #14FSU, #15Kentucky#16 Clemson, #17Tennessee,#18 Oregan,#19 Arkansas

You always hear donors/fans make excuses as to why Iowa can’t hit the top of the conference in the 2 sports that matter the most Football/Men's basketball, little old Iowa, low state population recruiting disadvantages etc etc, one could argue that Iowa does less with more, Sure they put a ton of guys in the NFL but why are we basically just a farm system for the NFL?

The resources are there to be elite yet it continues to be mediocre at best, it's a damn shame

# 20 IOWA $151,483,092

More than all of these schools who have had just as much or more success nationally.

Wisconsin $150,100,977 (been Iowa's daddy for the better part of the last 20 years)

Louisville $146,225,965

Illinois$ 145,735,330 Usually bad at football but own Iowa in basketball & having a special year in Fb

Washington $145,184,864 National Runner up last season

Nebraska 143,423,944 better facilities more rabid fans

South Carolina 142,210,807 SEC

Missouri 141,157,028 SEC

Minnesota 135,198,272 **** MInnesota

Ole Miss 133,557,937

We always hear from some on this board that top tier athletes can’t be recruited to the state of Iowa. ISU doesn’t seem to have a problem getting excellent offensive skill position players in football, and top athletes in men’s basketball.

I’d argue we do less with less.

Iowa has nowhere near elite revenues. Theyre $100MM behind the top AD, tOSU. Texas is right there with them. Then there’s a decent drop and the next handful are a step below them. Call those top 6-7-8 schools are tier 1a and 1b. They’re playing a different game altogether and they’re elite revenue wise. ~$200M

Iowa is clustered in the group with tier 2 money. And they’re tier 2B for sure

Pair that with the weak local recruiting and Iowa becomes a good but not great program from a job standpoint for the HC.

Iowa also only supports 22 teams while Ohio St supports 36! So a lot of that 100 million goes to support sports that don't matter.

Setting the money aside, I’ve always felt Iowa grossly overachieves (speaking football here), given small population state, another FBS program in the state, and even climate.
