One Final Thought Before Going to Bed…

Every one saying Gaetz can’t get confirmed reminds me of when they said Trump wouldn’t be president…, again
There is “a plan” behind this (and Tulsi’s) nomination. Trump is no “dummy” when it comes to getting his way. He is willing (more than) to sacrifice someone else to get what he thinks he needs. However, I am in no way saying Trump’s objective here are honorable, either.

I have the same thought. Gaetz is a smokescreen to get someone else through.

Murkowski, Collins and Mitch are gonna be no votes. Mitch hates Gaetz and at this point honey badger doesn't give a shit. Need one more, I think they can come up with one.

I think people underestimate the hatred for Gaetz within the party.

He won't. He's nothing but a mushed brained shill at this point. He and Ernst will rubber stamp whatever Trump wants.
Ernst yes, Grassley I'm not so sure. He's at the end of the road and Gaetz is an unqualified douche.

We'll see.

If not Grassley, it'll be another old long time R Senator that puts the knife in him. Maybe James Risch.

Gaetz will be a huge upgrade over the current hack. Garland’s #1 job as AG was to target political opponents.
Must…support…everything…Trump…does. Ride his nuts all day baby! Trump can do no wrong. He’s never even clogged a toilet, dontcha know!

I think this was merely a favor to Gaetz and a way to game the system. He nominates him. Gaetz resigns from the House. The House stops their investigation into him. He becomes an advisor or something.

You can't make this stuff up.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican congressman from Florida, has been involved in several controversies and legal issues over the past few years. These have generated significant media attention, with some of the allegations surrounding ethics violations, sexual misconduct, and connections to federal investigations. Below is an overview of some of the key controversies and allegations associated with Matt Gaetz:

1. Sex Trafficking Allegations (2021)

The most widely publicized and serious allegations against Matt Gaetz are related to sex trafficking. In March 2021, The New York Times reported that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was investigating Gaetz for potential involvement in a sex trafficking scheme, including claims that he had engaged in sex with a 17-year-old girl and paid for her travel across state lines, which would potentially violate federal sex trafficking laws.

Key Points:

  • The investigation was reportedly based on a larger probe into Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector who was indicted on multiple charges, including sex trafficking of a minor, identity theft, and other crimes.
  • Greenberg allegedly introduced Gaetz to women, including one who was reportedly underage. Gaetz denied the allegations, calling them "false" and claiming that he was the target of an extortion plot.
  • Gaetz has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating that he never paid for sex and had never been involved in trafficking minors.
  • As of 2023, there had been no formal charges filed against Gaetz in connection with these allegations, though the investigation remained a high-profile issue at the time.

2. Federal Investigation into Joel Greenberg and Gaetz

Gaetz's association with Joel Greenberg has been central to the investigation. Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector, had a notorious career, engaging in various criminal activities, including sex trafficking. Gaetz was reportedly involved with Greenberg and other figures in a circle of men who used the internet to solicit and pay for sex with women. Some of these women were allegedly underage.
  • In 2021, Greenberg pleaded guilty to six federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor, identity theft, and wire fraud. As part of his plea deal, Greenberg agreed to cooperate with federal authorities, which led to increased scrutiny of Gaetz's actions.

3. Allegations of Campaign Finance Violations

Gaetz has faced questions about his use of campaign funds and whether he misused them for personal expenses. Specifically, there were reports in 2021 that Gaetz and his political allies might have used campaign funds for things like travel, personal events, and other non-campaign-related activities. These issues raised concerns about whether they violated campaign finance laws.
  • In particular, he was accused of spending campaign funds on private jet travel and other personal expenses, though there were no formal charges filed in relation to campaign finance violations.

4. Sexual Misconduct Allegations

In addition to the trafficking investigation, Gaetz has faced various allegations of sexual misconduct. These claims are often linked to his social media activity and interactions with women, including accusations that he and his associates solicited sex from young women and paid for their travel and accommodations.
  • One notable incident involved a woman named Nestor Galban, who was publicly introduced by Gaetz as his "son" (though he is not his biological child). Gaetz's relationship with Nestor became the subject of public curiosity, as there were questions about whether he was a foster child, a relative, or simply a young man with whom Gaetz had a close personal relationship. The fact that Gaetz and Galban lived together led to speculation about the nature of their relationship, but no formal allegations were made regarding sexual misconduct with Galban.

5. Other Allegations and Controversies

  • Influence and Ethics Violations: Matt Gaetz has faced multiple accusations related to his use of influence and ethical behavior. He has been criticized for his public and personal connections to figures accused of corruption or criminal activities, including his ties to Greenberg.
  • Impeachment and Anti-Democratic Rhetoric: Gaetz has also been a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and has made headlines for his vocal opposition to efforts to hold Trump accountable. His rhetoric around the 2020 election, including promoting false claims of widespread voter fraud, has put him at odds with some factions of the Republican Party.
  • Relationship with Marjorie Taylor Greene: Gaetz has often aligned himself with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and other far-right figures in the House, further polarizing his political persona and generating significant media coverage.

6. Gaetz's Defense and Public Statements

Gaetz has strongly denied all allegations against him, particularly the sex trafficking accusations. He has repeatedly stated that the investigation is part of a politically motivated effort to discredit him, alleging that a former associate tried to extort him for $25 million and that the sex trafficking charges were fabricated as part of that extortion attempt.
In a high-profile interview with Tucker Carlson in March 2021, Gaetz claimed that he was being targeted by a “deep state” conspiracy and denied any criminal activity. He also maintained that he had been fully transparent with authorities and had cooperated with investigations.

7. Political Fallout and Impact

Despite the ongoing investigations, Gaetz has remained a prominent figure within the Republican Party, particularly among the more conservative and populist factions. He has continued to serve in Congress, representing Florida's 1st District, and has been a vocal advocate for conservative causes, including opposing COVID-19 restrictions and promoting right-wing policies.
However, the ongoing legal challenges and the media attention around the allegations have certainly impacted his political image, drawing criticism from some of his colleagues in the House, as well as from political opponents. He has faced calls for resignation, though he has rejected those calls.

I have the same thought. Gaetz is a smokescreen to get someone else through.
If this is correct, it also is to keep the Ethics Committee's investigation of him from coming to light. Trump just protected him.

Not a coincidence that this all came out two days before the Gartz report was supposed to be released.

Gaetz is absolutely terrible and should be locked up.
Since Trump and Biden were getting along so well, maybe Hunter will be selected to lead the DEA.

This is all fine.

House can still refer this to AG Matt Gaetz for prosecution...
