why can you people not understand the bowl scenario there are only two rules

1) The big Ten conference winner will go to the Rose Bowl unless they are in the CFP in that case the next highest ranked team will go in their place in this case Michigan CFP then Ohio State to Rosr

2) For all remaining bowl and this includes Citrus Outback Holidsy, Gator , Redboxx etc..,they get to submit their choices to the Big Ten office and the Big Ten will assign .

Of course they have a stipulation that they do not want the same teams playing in that bowl more than once or twice in a 6 year period.

So the following teams are all in the mix for the bowls

Iowa
Northwestern
PSU
Wisconsin
Purdue
MSU

* All things equal the bowls want two things 1) Fans at the Game 2) Ranked Teams 3) Good Records

This means the Citrus and Outback Bowl could say hey we only want PSU, Iowa and Wisconsin and not Northwestern Do not think for a minute that they would not

My best guess

1) PSU. Good fan base, ranked good record 9-3
2) Iowa - traveling fans , good record, possibly ranked 8-4

3 Wisconsin traveling fans, good record 8-4

4) Northwestern- possibly ranked - good records 8-5

Who would you take .., bowls want money and fans they could care less if Northwestern won division or participated in BTC

If you really want to move up to s better bowl root for Minnesota to beat Wisconsin, Illinois to beat NW and Rutgers to beat PSU

People on the NU board are convinced that Citrus won’t take them. Maybe they’ve had bad attendance there in the past

Also, if we’re trying to ladder, we want PSU to crush Rutgers and get invited to Peach Bowl (or Fiesta, but they went thee last year)

Final note, I think the Rose Bowl can technically pick any eligible Big Ten team if the champ is in playoff. That said, in the past they have taken the highest ranked available B1G team in the CFP rankings

what do you mean "you people"?

I understand where you're coming from here, but let's be real - The B1G is down this year and does not deserve more than 2 teams in the NY6. Penn St is a perfect selection for the Citrus. Then put NW in the Outback, IA in the Holiday, WI in the Gator, Purdue in the Pinstripe, MSU in the Redbox (assuming chalk this weekend and in BTCG). There would be a lot of winnable games for the B1G in that scenario; move everyone up and it's a lot less.

"Big Ten Bowl Ties, Affiliations
A Big Ten team will be in the Rose Bowl – it’ll be the champion if not in the College Football Playoff. There can’t be a Big Ten team this year in the Sugar Bowl.

College Football Playoff Semifinal: If Selected

1. Rose Bowl vs. Pac-12

2. Citrus Bowl vs. ACC or SEC
– Agreement for Citrus is for five different teams in six years, so no Minnesota or Michigan, if possible.

3. Outback Bowl vs. SEC
– Agreement is for five different teams in six years, so no Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan or Northwestern, if possible.

4. San Diego Country Credit Union Holiday Bowl vs. Pac-12
– Agreement is for five different teams in six years, so no Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin or Michigan State, if possible.

5. TaxSlayer Bowl vs. SEC OR
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl vs. SEC

– ACC and Big Ten combine in the Music City and TaxSlayer, with each getting three appearances in six years. The Big Ten played in TaxSlayer in 2015 and the Music City in 2016 and 2017. It’s almost certainly going to be in the TaxSlayer, but no Penn State or Iowa, if possible.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl vs. ACC
– It’s not official, but the bowl would prefer to have eight different teams in eight years, so no Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State or Indiana, if possible.

San Francisco Bowl vs. Pac-12
– Agreement is for five different teams in six years, so no Purdue, Indiana, Maryland or Nebraska, if possible.

Quick Lane Bowl vs. ACC

SERVPRO First Responders Bowl vs. C-USA
– Agreement for three SERVPRO First Responders and three Armed Forces bowls in six years. The Big Ten hasn’t been in the bowl since 2014. The Big 12 is contracted to play in the SERVPRO First Responders in 2019."

I think it would be hilarious if Purdue doesn’t go to a bowl game after all of the Brohm dick riding on this board. They are only 4 point favorites over Indiana on Saturday.

Barring upsets in CCGs, it may very well come down to PSU vs Florida for the final NY6 spot.
1 bama
2 Clemson
3 ND
4 Michigan
5 OU
6 WSU
7 LSU
8 Georgia
9 OSU
10 UCF

Who gets the other 2?
Texas?
WV?
Florida?
PSU?

Don't know, but I'm hoping it's the Big 12 runner-up and Syracuse (hopefully they can pull it off at BC). Penn St-Florida, NW-MissSt, IA-Utah, Wisc-KY, Purd-VA and MichSt-Oreg are fine matchups. I worry about an 0-3 B1G NY6 showing, along with other probable losses if everyone else is bumped up a notch.

Michigan wins out is a shoe in for the CFB, they'll annihilate NW.

NW isn't good enough to go to the Rose Bowl, I think that'll be for OSU.

Hawks are probably Holiday Bowl bound, and we'll play a PAC 12 team that'll most likely do to us what Stanford did to us in the Rose Bowl.

I doubt they disrespect Northwestern. Most sites have them #1 from that group in Citrus Bowl
What disrespect they've would be 8-5 we would be 8-4 basically tied doesn't matter they won division money and fans are more important to bowls

Either way if we end up in Holiday or Reddbox Iowa will not travel... your looking at a difference of 20,000 that might travel to Outback or Citrus vs lucky to get 10,000 to Holiday or Reddbox.

For the average fan it's twice the distance, twice the cost and let's be real they just went out to California in 2015.

Best case scenario under the poster Haighht scenario above

Michigan CFP
Ohio State Rose
PSU Big 6

Citrus Iowa
Outback Michigan State
Holiday Northwestern
Taxslayer Wisconsin
Reddbox Purdue

Sounds fair to me ... screw Norrhwestern they are just another 8-5 team just like everyone else they don't travel worth shit.. hope they get beat by Minnesota and finish 7-6 then who the hell will want them ...

OP realizes that the Big 10 took a bigger ole in bowl scheduling a couple years ago and traveling fans doesn't matter as much as it once did right?

LI realize that ... I'm still hoping Minnesota and Michigan beat NU so they end up 7-6...then I see no way the Big Ten would send an unranked team with a poor record and a non-existent fan base to bowl game that obviously does not want them over a 8-4 team that travels well that the bowls do want

I don't think Purdue is any more in a mix for a bowl than Indiana. That's a toss-up to me with Purdue on the road. And I think you meant 'Maryland' to beat PSU, which wouldn't shock me if they did.
