The video review is ridiculous. Ref's almost never reverse their real time decision, even when it's obviously wrong. Anyone else think that Dean had control during that "takedown?"

Agree. There are two scenarios with replay. 1. Coach knows he was screwed, but ref is too biased to overturn since he made the original call. 2. Coach knows he has no chance, but a 90 second breather would be good for his wrestler.

I thought I heard on tonight's broadcast an announcer say that they had reversed 8 calls during the tournament.

They probably should have done that many per session.

It is absolutely infuriating to see a ref miss a call, or even worse make a blatantly wrong call, and then have the audacity to stick with it during a video review. I don't buy the crap they try to feed us when they claim they don't have a good view either. It is very very rare to see a referee overturn his own call.

The only way to stop that (in ANY sport that uses it) is to have a set of officials who are there solely to interpret and make the call for video reviews. They also need to be shown the video and not informed on what the original call was so they have to make a decision based on what they see, not on what was already called and by whom.

That is what the NHL does for goals that are questionable. There is a crew at NHL HQ that looks at it. Amazingly, they still manage to f it up sometimes in Toronto, even with the advantage of replay.
