For the last 4-5 games we have not shot the ball well as a team and especially from the 3 point line overall. All you need is a couple more of those to go in the big dance and it might be enough to get us a couple rounds deeper. Wouldn't hurt to get some rebounds and loose balls also as every one lately has seemed to warped to the other team somehow.

I agree with you. These guys have proven to be good shooters, so it is only a matter of time before they break out.

The thing that has me worried about the end stretch of this season is the defensive rebounding. IMO you can overcome bad three point shooting, but you can't overcome giving the other team multiple chances on the offensive end.

Agree - is it a positioning issue or getting out hustled? I lost count how many times illinois got buckets on 2nd/3rd chances

Fredrick and JoeW are being well guarded at 3pt line and neither one has a great dribble drive game to make teams pay by driving to hoop. WE got pretty good 3pt shooting from Bakari, Connor, JoeT vs Illini and still lost. That type of shooting from those 3 guys is not going to happen often. The defense has not been special all year and rebounding seems to have gotten worse, so we need that super efficient offense and it is no longer there.

Maybe it's because the opponent (Purdue, MSU, Wisconsin, Illinois) is allowed to play rugby. Watch off the ball and see the muggings Joe W and CJF take. It's literally criminal. If it happened on the street, assault charges would be filed. And some people wonder why the Hawkeyes take exception to it.

Sure, like Fran said last night, the only option is to play through it, BUT playing through it is all but impossible. That's why they have this thing called a "foul." It's supposed to STOP all that physical BS. But not in the Big Ten.

BTW: I wonder how good Dosunmu would be if he were called for that stiff arm clear out he uses constantly. Anytime a defender gets near him, he shoves them away better than most running backs I've seen lately. Then, with four or five feet of space, he fires away. Can you imagine CJF or Joe W clearing space like that and getting away with it for 40 minutes without ONE SINGLE FOUL being called? Neither can I, but watch the video and you'll see that's exactly what Dosunmu did last night.

I think Big Ten teams have the scout on us. Pressure Weezy and force anyone besides him or Garza to score. The tournament doesn’t really allow for a long evaluation period or any in game experience, usually. I think Weiscamp will benefit from this the most.

Maybe but at the end of the day Joe has to make the shot/finish the drive

If I were an opposing coach I would have my defenders move to aggressively to put a chest directly into that stiff arm when he makes this move,... He'll either learn to stop doing that or get his arm broken...

This is a pretty good post. If you watch closely all year the Big10 refs start the season by calling the game how it should be mostly. By the time the season ends, it resembles a cage match. That doesn't help the league imo and only hurts us when it comes to March and the NCAA tourney. It obviously benefits teams that mug you - MSU, WI, Ill, ect

That's the great thing about this current group that Iowa has.

We're not a live by the 3 die by the 3 offense. We're much more balanced with our bigs/Garza, and we don't need to bomb threes to win games. Yes, we have to be able to make 3s (can't go 4-33 and expect to win in today's game), but we can score in different ways, so it's not a death sentence when we aren't hot from outside.
