Well with Dreshaun announcing he is going to Okie State, will Bo, Jax, and eventually Melvin be the next to follow? It would be nice to have everyone get spread out for the parity of the sport. Would be nice to go to Big Tens or Nationals without a foregone team champion.

I mean if his shoulder stays healthy he could be great but who knows. His body seems to be failing a lot for a teenager

Ross is a dog, tough loss especially because he's in-state. The fot was always an issue IMO because of Kueter and it makes more sense to go after the Moccos. Not saying they'll be better than Ross.

Gundy does love him some wrestlers, so if he manages to right the ship and save his job, maybe he calls Ross in a couple years if the DL or LBs need some depth. Especially if he adds some good muscle and gets up to 240-250lbs.

Time will tell. Iowa is recruiting harder than they ever have under the Brands brothers. They will have the best top to bottom roster in their tenure in 1-2 years by a significant margin. We’re not going anywhere , and the sky isn’t falling because Ross is going to osu.
I sure hope not. What the fvck took them 15 years to recruit harder? Penn State has been blasting us in that department. DT to OKst and immediately takes our states top recruit. Pretty shitty look to me.

in all honesty they havent out " recruited us " they have out "SPENT US" over the last 15 years and it was done LONG BEFORE NIL became a legal method of landing recruits. Now cue all of the dumbass responses from the trolls how the top recruits just wanted to feel the sun off of Cael's arse shine upon them and grant them the wisdom of the world so they could feel complete.

I’m not trolling. I just want Iowa to be back on top. That is all. I wish I was generationally wealthy I would fill the coffers for wrestling. And I get that PSU cheats. Everyone did or does but there are levels.

Just curious, but why now all of a sudden are the Brands bros recruiting harder and why will the roster be better than any previous? Why werent these efforts being made long ago?

We shall see,.......

Because there was a long lasting, mostly successful philosophy that you take guys that 100% wanted to be there and MADE THEM into quality AA's and Champs. Chasing guys and having to convince them to come, doesn't give you the feeling that you are getting what you want, no matter how high the kid was ranked coming out of High School. Mind you, when something works for a while, it is pretty common for most not to "innovate" and catch the change before the change is blaringly obvious and absolutely necessary.

Again, it comes down to PSU recruiting at an unprecedented level. Sanderson was always a great recruiter, but going to PSU and building them up truly doubled or even tripled that recruiting power. So now, Sanderson can not only truly go recruit the hard to gets, but he actually can benefit from the old philosophy that the Brands clung to. He is now getting a bunch of guys that 100% WANT TO BE THERE.

They have created an unprecedented machine and it only makes sense that they are reaping the rewards at nearly all levels...

Then kick Cael out of the sport.

This is probably all true, and quite common, but still not a sign of a great leader. Great leaders are constantly adapting and innovating
And BTW, I am still a big TnT fan, change is better late than never. Go Hawks.

I don't know that it isn't a sign of a "great leader". When you learn something from someone as successful as Gable was and have a ton of success the same way early on, it takes a stretch of adverse results before you decide that way doesn't work anymore.

Also, there is so much more to being a successful coach than just the results on the mat. By all accounts the guys almost uniformly become much better people off the mat and come out of the program 100% ready for the "real world". Hell, they even believe in their culture enough to try to take risks on "troubled" wrestlers and try to help them "fix" themselves.

Now, I do think they are far from perfect and have been pretty vocal on the areas I believe they should put heavy focus on improving, but they are absolutely in the Top 3 or 4 out of all current, and even remotely possible, DI coaches you could get and only 1 of those is ahead and that guy is an absolute Unicorn(Sanderson)...

idk, i don’t think it takes a coaching genius to realize you should recruit elite talent even if you have to work a little hard to convince them.

Even if they don't get Bo?

That isn’t remotely what I said. It was more about what they considered a perfect fit than just making them fit.

Again, I think it was a philosophy they adapted from Gable and they had great initial success with it, so it took seeing that PSU success rise and less and less top tier recruits that had their mentality and were Iowa diehards.

Now, I am not saying they shouldn’t have adjusted earlier or that the philosophy didn’t have holes in it. I just don’t think you call them “poor leaders” because of it…
