Where are the backup teams? That was a thing wasn't it?
What about replacement teams?
I thought that was a thing?
not sure how you get a team in town and ready to play in 4 hours
Why wouldn't they already be in town? That is the point of a backup.

I don't understand how it could take this long to figure out they were positive.
How did they not know this days ago?
Not only that they had to have known earlier today. A back up team should have had plenty of time to be ready for the game
Yes, the entire thing is ridiculous but it may actually work in Iowas favor.
Tournament started on Thursday.iirc it was announced during the selection show, there would be no replacement teams once the tourney started, actually I think the cutoff was Tuesday
Tournament started on Thursday.
You’re rightRight, and I might be misremembering but I recall hearing the cutoff was Tuesday... Anyone who had to drop after then wouldnt be replaced. Could be wrong though.
i see a 6’11” guy listed with 8.2pts, 10+ rebounds per gameLooks like Oregon starts four 6’6” guys and a 6’5” point guard. They all five shoot over 35% from 3. Should be an interesting matchup. Not sure if Iowa will really want to turn it into a track meet with these guys.

Was hoping VCU would win this game. Oregon is a tougher matchup for Iowa. Athletic lengthy guards and wings that can shoot the 3 ball. Solid on D. Lack size in the post but their post guys can cover Garza anywhere on the court. They can also stretch Garza out and make him defend the entire floor. This creates space for their shooters as well as the drive and dish. Two areas Iowa can struggle to defend. Oregon is led by 3rd team All-American G/W Chris Duarte and 6'6" post Eugene Omoruyi who both can score anywhere on the court. Worried Garza will pick up fouls as the Ducks will likely attack him.
No they announced earlier in the week that the backup plan was only for teams invited. Say if Virginia or KU didn't come to Indy. Once the games started there will be NO changes to the bracket. They will not bring other teams into the controlled environment because there is no time to adequately test new teams before playing to protect all participants.Beat me to it.
I don't get it.
I think that the health depts view was because the number of positives on VCU was growing that more players would test positive in the next couple of days and thus be putting any opponents players and referees at risk......So.....VCU still had coaches and more than 5 players that were not positive. They could have played.
