I'm currently in Dubuque to The Tubes play at the Diamond Jo. First saw them at Hancher on Sept 27, 1981. In-freaking-believable show. The day before we had beaten UCLA, which helped launch us to Hayden's first Rose Bowl despite losing Lon Olejniczak to a broken leg. Souring the show, guitarist Bill Spooner says, "Hey, I heard you guys beat UCLA!", to which ASU fan lead singer Fee Waybill retorts, "So what. UCLA sucks anyway!" Ah, to be young again.
