HAhmad Wagner's Wayne team pushed on tonight over a scrappy Centerville, OH team. Wayne was up 24-21 at half and trailed once at 32-31 in the 3rd. Wayne quickly regained control at 42-34 and kept the lead to 3 or greater the rest of the way before pulling ahead for good and winning 63-49.

It was a night of 3 point shooting with Centerville making 9 and Wayne making 8. Both teams packed it in tight and Wagner was limited to 9 points with 3 buckets and 3 FT's. He was involved in a spectacular play where Centerville appeared to have lay up off a press break and Wayne's 6'8" F headed to Dayton blocked it from behind off the glass. It was then pushed up court and passed to Wagner who wanted to dunk but was hammered and had the presence of mind to lay it in for the attempted 3 point play.

What i really liked about his game is his footwork on Defense. He can guard on the perimeter and moves well off the ball. He was a bit passive offensively, but to his credit, he did not force anything and played within the flow of the offense. Centerville did focus on limiting his touches and that was apparent with the 3 point attempts for both teams.

He is probably no more than 6'7" and he could gain 15 lbs. of muscle. He does have the frame to play now in the Big Ten, but would benefit from more strength. He is definitely a very good athlete. He also seems like a very good team player, good even minded demeanor and willing to do what was required with several hustle plays.

A very nice athlete with his best days ahead of him.

Wayne will play Springfield on Saturday night for the right to go to Ohio's final 4. Springfield defeated Moeller tonight. It should be a verv good game.
