...your attempts to return to 2005 have once again failed, fizzled, faded, ffffound themselves just wasted effort. One could say, it was Groce.

I write to you not as a friend, we will never be friends, but as an adversary who used to worry about you miserable annoying and underachieving dolts that could occasionally cause problems for the Hawkeyes.

I write to you with this message. On November 23rd you barely managed to beat the Chicago State Cougars. The final score was 82-79.

Ladies. That team you barely beat just lost to Northwestern 77-35.

Pause to think about that for a minute.

Is it time to sink to more attainable goals? Perhaps you should look into the Summit League?

I thought you were an Iowa fan, why are starting up a post about Ill on an Iowa bball board? If you want to talk about the Illini go to their message board. Be a classy Hawkeye fan. Show that you aren't like Illini fans. We aren't obsessed with Ill. They are irrelevant right now.

So let me get this straight. Illinois is at what one could argue a 10 year low and Iowa arguably a 10 year high and yet there is no measurable difference between the two programs.

NIT and NCAA tourament now not noticeably different.

Don't know why you bothered posting about the Illini, but I'm a believer in letting sleeping dogs lie. Thte Illini has had a lot of injuries and etc. during Groce's tenure, but even with that, Groce has not been as good a coach as I thought he would be. There still is enough talent there to be dangerous on any given night.

someone has an unhealthy dislike of illinois. of course, i dislike FIPs and illinois nazis as much as anybody, but that was out there.
No such thing as an "unhealthy dislike" of Illinois. It is all good entertainment. I remember posting before last year that I was unconvinced by Groce and he should be in the hotseat. Bunch of Illinuts came on our board and defended Groce. Don't see them now. He has had numerous tough breaks, but at some point excuses don't replace wins. Still, I hope he sticks around another few years. Fran is going to clean up on recruiting Illinois with them down along with Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Not sure the point of a post like this. To the OP... maybe your memory is short but do you remember a certain coach in Iowa City with the initials of T.L. who led Iowa to some of its darkest days on the court.

I recall that as a matter of fact. A couple years back we had a little love feast going between "visitors" from other teams and Hawkeye fans who seem to have an easy time of finding fault in Iowa. That was during the Hire a Head Hunter, How Long does McCaffery get phase on the board.

Doesn't annoy me DanL. Just don't see the point of talking about Illinois' problems when the Hawks were in a similar place with Lickloser and have issues of their own to overcome at this time.

I gotcha. I won't post my happy/happy tirade about Minnesota giving Pitino a contract extension. :)

That's mean kicking a man (team) when he (it's) down. Some things are best left unsaid.
