What the heck is going on with that team? Now 4-3 and they got blasted by 21 at UNC last night. Way too much talent to be scoring 51 points.

They can’t shoot. Caleb Houstan was preseason all big ten as a true freshman and is averaging 8.5 ppg on 32% shooting. Devante Jones, a grad transfer from Coastal Carolina was supposed to be a lot better but is only averaging like 6.5 points. Brandon Johns has been there forever and he’s averaging just over 5 off the bench. They need their senior leadership to step up. And Michigan fans may disagree, but I’m still not sold on Eli Brooks as their go-to scorer. He’s definitely good, no question about it. But I don’t think he compares favorably to Ivey, Cockburn, Wesson, Murray, Jackson-Davis and some of the other Big Ten’s top players. Just my opinion and not an indictment on him

Of course they are super young otherwise, lot of new faces, and talented so I’m sure that they’ll figure it out

I just don't understand it. Don't they have one of the best and highest-paid coaches in the country? They should be unstoppable!

They HAVE a go to scorer on their team. He's seven feet tall and he won the head to head matchup against the NPOY last year. He shoots it at 60% and is only averaging 13 points per game which is the same as his freshman year. He has to be the best big on the floor in pretty much every game they play. On a team that is struggling to score how does he not see the ball every time down the floor?

It's more than a shooting problem and the numbers bear that out. As a team they are the anti-Hawkeyes. Iowa leads the nation in assist to turnover ratio at 2.28. Iowa only has 1 player in their top 10 that is less than 1. That is spectacular. By comparison, Michigan's assist to TO ratio is .88 and they rank 243rd in that statistic. Eli Brooks is the ONLY player in their top 6 who isn't below 1.

As you said they aren't shooting great and at 46% they rank 103rd. By comparison Iowa shoots over 50% and ranks 16th.

Dickinson, unlike Garza, doesn’t have a perimeter game. I agree that he deserves additional shot attempts, but it doesn’t guarantee better results when there’s no perimeter shooting to speak of and defenders can crash down on you. Not to mention that he’s only shooting 60% from the line. He’s also an average passer that is turning the ball over at twice the clip that Garza did last year. If Michigan hopes to make a run in March, when guard play is most important, it can’t be on Dickinson’s back (as we saw with Luka last year)

They lost some big pieces from last year's team. Dickinson inside scoring only matters if you have knockdown
3pt shooting that are also good defenders. Apparently this incoming recruiting class is not as advertised.

Looks like a reversal in fortunes between Michigan and Purdue.

Oh I totally agree. If their guard and wing play doesn't pick it up in a big way they're toast.

The shocking thing isn't that they only scored 51pts. The shocking thing is that they only scored 51 while giving up 72 to a UNC team that doesn't have a great offense and neither team is exactly uptempo.

In their last 3 they were blown out by Arizona and UNC. Their only win was by 11 against Tarleton. WTF is Tarleton ??!!!!

Houston and the grad transfer pg just don't look to be nearly as good as advertised.

Brooks is good but he seems more like a #2 type guy on a top ten team vs being the guy.

Michigan looks terrible on the offensive end if they can't get anything in transition. It was really bad against UNC...literally 3 guys standing on one side of the court watching the other two. No flow to the offense and they turn the ball over way too much.

Without Dickenson...he was in foul trouble...they don't have a true post player who can play with his back to the basket. They looked terrible...and NC isn't that good either IMO.

I am no expert on Michigan, but the 2 times I watched them they couldn't hit from the 3 point line at all.
