OT: Mount Mercy adding football

Heard that this was going to be announced a few weeks ago. I got direct news on this as an alumnus this morning (sorry MMU, but I’m not going to sponsor any NIL). The email to all alumni officially came out at noon. Another NAIA program in Iowa. Near Iowa City as well. Thoughts?

Mt Mercy is "combining" with St Ambrose from Davenport. The combined entity will be St Ambrose University. St Ambrose already has football, as well as most other men's and women's sports.

I'm guessing more of these "mergers" will happen in the next decade. Finances are tough for a small college.

Absolutely. Small colleges are enrollment drive, and offering a sport like football is an add.
