OT: Should NFL Punish Eagles?

No. Look what the Colts did to get Andrew Luck not long ago. Peyton leaves and you then go 0-fer. C'mon. They tanked their whole damn season.

Some think so. They pulled Jalen Hurts and put in the rarely used Nate Sudfeld while down 17-14.

Eagles are a mess. Not sure who was making decisions on Sunday night. Was there an edict from above to give Sudfeld a look? Personally, I think they should be more concerned about whether Hurts can be 'the guy' moving forward. Sounds like Wentz and Peterson need a divorce from each other.

You do realise that the NFL is now certified as an ENTERTAINMENT and not sport property? All they care about are the television ratings and $$$. Controversy and over the top story lines drive the bottom line which of course is all about the $$$.

Before I stopped watching their product it became obvious when watching games who was scripted to either outright win a game or at the very least spread.

Unfortunately college football has also become so story and betting $$$ driven that their weekly on field products can no longer be considered fair contests but scripted towards betting lines. The Alabama/Notre Dame show acting by Saban near the end was so bad it hurt to watch how he made certain the Irish was going to cover the spread as though he had a personal bet on the game. Besides the personal foul did anyone watching actually think Alabama was going to stop the Irish from scoring and covering?

A few timely thrown flags, or not thrown during any of these shows affects who covers or who doesn't and with the rules always being changed so that there is even more questionable or doubt into whether he "did or didn't" do an infraction on any given play makes it so easy to again affect the shows outcomes and betting spreads.

The NFL, Big Colleges and Vegas are each Billion $$$ industries and they aren't taking chances with their products by letting any of them be unscripted in their outcomes.

Just like the WWE, if your NFL or College team wins or covers with a little help by or gets jobbed by a referee that wasn't looking the closeness of the show and controversy is what is going to sell next weeks products to their fans.

If a 6-10 team (Giants) needs help to make the playoffs they should focus on the 10 losses vs. what the heck the Eagles do. That entire division should have lost their automatic bid for being so pathetic.

Agreed. If anything, The Eagles did the NFL a favor from stopping a 6-10 team from making the playoffs. Would be a bad look even in a year of adding an extra playoff team. One in a tinfoil hat could question whether the NFL was “in on it” last night.

Interesting

Unless they’ve broken a rule, I don’t know how the NFL can micromanage what coaches or teams do. It sucks and isn’t in the spirit of completion but they did improve on their draft status by 4 spots which means more to them than their 5th win. You can argue what that decision did for their culture.

I do agree the money has ruined the game . Case in point TB tossing bunnies to AB last week so he could get his 250k bonus! What a joke. Football has been pretty much ruined by money and now by betting.
sad really
