... without Al Bevilacqua. In the early days of my View from Section GG blog I did one on Al and Beat the Streets. As most of you know, Al was a co-founder of that organization. Al is an opinionated, curmudgeonly sort who has done more for the growth of wrestling than almost anyone in America. From the very beginning his message to me has been, "stop talking and DO SOMETHING". It didn't matter to him what that "something" was - just act. Since those early days he has been supportive, both vocally and financially.

With all of that, it made sense for Al to be on the inaugural Wrestling for Life board of directors and he was elected vice-president. Last night, with great sadness, I had to accept his resignation from the board. His wife has health issues and Al is devoting his time to her. He is also resigning from the boards of Beat the Streets, the International Fraternity of Wrestlers and the National Registry for Wrestling (all of which he helped found).

In recent years the National Registry for Wrestling has been one of Al's pet projects. If you are not already on it, please register. It will take you only a couple of minutes. If you are already on it, please encourage your friends to join. It would be a good way to thank him for all of the kids who have gotten to see Hawkeye wrestling because he told a fan in Cedar Rapids to get off his butt and DO SOMETHING.

I used to read view from section gg, was sad when new ones quit coming. you are a very thoughtful man mr. brown.for you I will check out this national registry thingy, but no promises.

I see no downside to joining the National Registry for Wrestling or any reason why every Iowa wrestling fan shouldn't be on it. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
