Story out of Madison is that when UWGB hired Linc Darner as their new head basketball coach from Florida Southern College - where his team won the 2015 National Division II title - he met with his new players for the first time last April - he announced that they would be going to the NCAA tournament this next spring. One of his players was quoted as saying that either the new coach was delusional or he better buy into his program. Interestingly, Linc Darner played at Purdue. Also, UWGB was the team that Greg Gard beat for his first win this past fall - Wisconsin had a big double digit lead in that game and they had to hang on to win. Wisconsin was up at halftime 48-27 and won 84- 79.

Seems like that coach knows his stuff. I remember watching UW-GB teams in the past and they were fun to make fun of because they'd often range from average to not very good, but always presented themselves like they were better than anyone that could be put in front of them, even when they were down by 25, like they were too good to be interested in the fact that they were getting blown out.

UW-GB is a fun team to watch. It would not surprise me if they pull an upset or two in the tournament. Darner was a skinny, scrappy guard back in the day, but while he may still be scrappy, he is certainly not skinny.
