Gibbons is cool. Even though he has a bunch of cliche phrases, he is quite knowledgeable about the sport, which is usually a refreshing change from some BTN+ announcers. He also generally gives Iowa wrestlers a lot of respect, at least from my perspective.

I'll never forget that classic No sh*t moment, that was so funny to watch live. I believe that was at the Iowa vs tOSU dual in 2014-2015 season, or maybe it was B1Gs that year?

Was just going to say the same thing. We kid around about his favorite phrases, but I suspect pretty much all of us enjoy listening to him. I'd say he's the best color commentator for wrestling I've seen/heard on TV. He's done a good job of elevating his game over the years. He used to say "go ahead and" about every other sentence, and he's cut that way down. He's much more fluid now than he used to be, and he obviously knows a ton and loves the sport. He's really developed into a fantastic color guy, and that's good for wrestling and for fans like us. So hats off to Jim! I'll forgive his Cyclone roots.;)

Most importantly to me, he seems like a generally nice guy on screen and on social media.

Not sure if that's true, but that's the way it appears to me.

You're spot on. A national champ and a national champ coach, he knows the sport. As for the BTN+ guys; why do you think that calling them rounds, games and players disqualifies theater majors for calling the match?

I'm watching the replay on Cyclone.tv. Did that #9 Weatherspoon vs. #11 Lujan match get lost in the significance of the dual's result? I didn't see anything here. That was a fantastic(!) match. Lots of lead changes, last second drama and brilliant "gut check" wrestling. Most entertaining match I have seen this year.
