Haven't been on here in awhile, so I apologize for asking a question that has probably been talked about quite a bit, but what is the chance Ott gets another year?

Thanks, in advance.

Another player that had less game time than Ott this year was recently denied. I cannot recall his name.

I would think that the only thing that may work a bit more in Ott's favor is the fact that he injured his elbow against Iowa State and was competing at below 100% even prior to the knee injury. Plus, he is a "true senior" that has not used a developmental or academic redshirt. So, there is a little bit of hope, but most are not expecting to hear the news we desire.

As I understand it, the BIG committee meets in mid February to decide. Ott can then appeal to NCAA if denied. As already stated it is case by case with NCAA so never know what they will decide

I did not know that this goes through the B1G before it gets to the NCAA. That's news to me. Who's on that B1G committee?

It seems like some of these decisions come down to them shaking a magic 8 ball and going with the answer.

Six people and Barta is one of them. Not sure who the other five are.
Okay, so we only need 2 more votes!

...or is it a clear majority?

...and if so, why do they only have 6 and not 7 on the committee?

I thought I heard somewhere that they are arguing based on the number of plays Ott played rather than quarters.

Barta can't vote or sit in the discussion for his players.
However there is still the wink, wink, nudge, nudge factor.
I heard from a pretty good connection it has a decent chance - not due to Barta but the fact the conference doesn't want to hurt a kids chance at making a living..

The Conference will approve but who knows with the NCAA. If it's a unanimous vote by the BIG group, that might help.
I would hope.
