Defensive team got the Hawks back in the game ... pressure caused TOs and got opportunities. Fun to see.
I don't remember seeing defense that good since Fran has been here, ever. Hope we can keep it up, and if we do...watch out, we will surprise some people. There was some hellish defense played tonight. Hellish.

All grit from our boys tonight. I was worried we couldn't keep up the intensity, but it seems like we ramped it up as the game progressed. Way impressive.
He looked waayyyy better than I thought he would. If he looked that good against those legitimate PU bigs he's definitely ready for an increased work load. He had some nice tough rebounds in there..very impressed with his performance and can tell he's been making nice progress...Actually, Josh did a great job moving his feet and staying in front of his man, which is 90% of defense. He forced PU's big stars into some TOs and some ugly shots. IMHO, that's pretty damn good defense, especially for a kid who had never played a meaningful minute of basketball at Iowa until last night, and that came against what they say is the best damn team in the country.

We’ve posited that this lineup maximized defense and rebounding while still having up,tempo high efficiency offense. JoeT and Perk are both getting steals at 4.6/100 possession (3.5/40m) and Ogundele leads team in rebounding /100 possession and 40 min/game. and we saw this last night. When you add the Murray’s overall excellence Defensiv metrics you have a superb defense unit , inside, outside and in the wings, however, this unit can also score at high efficiency levels.
What would a defense 1st starting lineup and rotation be like?
The Iowa team needs to play against a real team. The defensive metrics so far against terrible teams are not good. The raw #'s have been decent for Iowa's D, but adjusted for the absolute horrific teams they have played so far it has them 80th in defense according to Pomeroy. Against teams that want to post bigs Josh will be more valuable. For Iowa to get anywhere in March, they need to be at a place where O is getting more minutes than Rebraca.
He sure made Williams work his ass off to get anything. He consistently kept the All BIG player from getting to his spots. I call that pretty good defensive work.....Josh isn't a good defensive player. Just big. Most likely will foul out against Ill. if he gets any minutes? Hopefully I'm wrong but....
Not so sure about that. Patrick was outstanding in the second half ,Against teams that want to post bigs Josh will be more valuable.
Against teams that want to play 5 out and set a lot of screens Philip will be valuable.
I still think Keegan and Kris is our best 4 and 5 combo.
Patrick plays the 3 primarily. Not so sure about that. Patrick was outstanding in the second half ,
He didn't let Williams just bully him around the basket, which is what Williams wanted to do. He fouled 3 times in 16 minutes. That's just fine. If Iowa can get 15-20 decent minutes out of him against Coburn that would be fantastic.Actually, Josh did a great job moving his feet and staying in front of his man, which is 90% of defense. I wish Kofi good luck moving Josh on Monday
