Our portal game is downright pathetic. Only team worse in the conf is Purdue. Our AD must get big corporate donors or add NIL fee to tickets.

We're striking out left and right while other Big Ten teams are on fire. Maybe it will take a 3-9 season next year to make that sink in. Without some significant additions via the portal at WR, OL, DL, DB, 3-9 is staring us right in the face.
Another fan who really doesn’t understand what Iowas doing. So you want KF to go to the portal and grab a bunch of players who didn’t play on other teams to replace ones we have already started to develop here. Says no one with a successful business model.

Oh wait here comes the go get top QB etc! Get a clue, teams like Iowa are not getting the best players available in the portal, sorry! Never going to happen. They jump from OSU to Bama to GA to etc.

The current pan is best for Iowa, spend the $ on guys you’ve already started to develop and keep them if they show potential. We have several who would have portabled but started this yr bc of it. Then add a couple guys you need and target one or two bigger names. That it folks, unless yall start dropping 100s of k in donations, that’s it.

Quit bitching, yall think it’s so easy, it’s not, it’s Iowa, no real top power house history, cold as fk, and with a small population, it’s damn near a miracle what KF is doing with this program, try enjoying it bc one day soon, they’ll be some dark days ahead in comparison.

Understand what you are saying but

We have had 5 players visit Kitch, Pace, Pribula, Onianwa and Hank, with one commitment. No WR visits - 2 QB, 2- DL and 1 OL. Need to get some on campus to have a chance.
Would really like to get Onianwa to Iowa at least.

Just bhoppy.

KFs portal philosophy has basically been proven out for the most part. He would rather develop the kids we have and pay to keep super seniors than to risk taking someone that will disrupt their culture. The one miss was CM for the money but that probably helped change their perspective on how to dispense the money.

You don't get it. And you're approaching curtis level with your schtick.

Nothing about Iowa football is downright pathetic.

It's level of success just doesn't support that sentiment.

If there are areas of weakness, those areas must not be that important because Iowa has found ways to make up for them in other areas.

Y'all come back after a couple seasons of 6/7 wins if you expect your concerns to not be laughed at

It is a miracle that KF names his son OC and QB coach and, somehow, ends up with the worst offense in the entire country. Iowa hasn't had a legit D-1 QB for the last five years. Phil Parker has saved Iowa football from KF's foolishness over and over again, and now even Phil is having problems maintaining his standard.

And look at Indiana. Look at SMU. Look everywhere outside Iowa City and you'll see programs doing pretty well despite limited resources, lack of a winning tradition, and without the longest tenured coach in college football. Just be thankful for Albany and UMass.

The Albany and UMass's are what keep the win % high, we only play 1-2 top tier teams a year and rarely look competitive against them.

"Somehow" ended up with the worst offense in the country. There's a very easy answer for that and it's not what you idiots have been claiming for years.

No legit D-1 QB for 5 years. That's certainly an exaggeration.

Who hired Phil?

Look at Indiana and SMU and you'll see programs that have had a great season and would not be considered to have better football programs than Iowa at this point.

Have a Merry Christmas

I do think there is a large portion of the Iowa fanbase that insists on learning about NIL the hard way. Maybe they don't care though, and they are ok with 6-6 give or take moving forward. I do wish that just one time we'd have a donor step forward and say "here is $10 million", use like $8 for football, and the rest for MBB & WBB to see what we could do in a season with it.

you think SMU has limited resources? They waived their share of TV deal money from the ACC just to join. Why? They don't need the money. They have deep pockets. It's why they got the death penalty before paying players was legal.

SMU has fu money. They are in the 9th largest city in the US in talent rich Texas. SMU will be right back where they used to be now that the are in a power conference and can pay to play.

THE NIL ERA SUCKS.
Says some Iowa fans because they don't see it helping their team like it is some others. I remember all of the fans on here earlier this year gloating over how Iowa was going to dominate ISU financially, and by extension on the field and the court, because of the Big12 being a second class conference, and how great it was being in the Big10. Now all anybody does is bitch about ISU basketball buying players through NIL donations.

In these zero sum games there's winners and losers. It will be up to the NCAA and/or BIG10/SEC to decide how best to manage this evolution and it's up to the Iowa administration to figure out how best to compete in this new world of college athletics. Indiana, Boise, SMU, and Arizona St are all in the CFP this year and ISU came within a championship game of crashing the party, so don't tell me it can't be done at Iowa.

Everywhere? The Hawks did better than 12 teams - in their own conference. Florida State and Okie State, despite having tradition and resources, finished last in their conference. Oklahoma, Auburn, Mississippi State and Kentucky were the bottom four teams in the SEC - all behind Vanderbilt .

Iowa is not the only team that's not achieving it's goals in the new era of the portal and NIL.

Is it possible some of the targets may still be involved in the playoffs? This would include FCS. Spring window is still a possibility.

Beth has proven to be less than worthless. My dog could have gotten rid of BF and without CC our women’s BB is what it is. Yawn ass athletic department.
So what should Beth have done that she hasn't done in the one year that she's had the job? And if your dog could have gotten rid of BF, then why didn't he (or she)? Why did he/she wait for Beth to do it?

More fearmongering, yay. You forgot "We could be as bad as we were in the 1970s, 50 years ago"

Imagine how many people are going to lose their minds if Umass blows out the Hawks next season

I see it as the demise of college football from the "student-athlete" to simply "athlete". If it were benefiting Iowa I would still have issues, I did when they brought CM in (was excited for the possibilities, but still disgusted by the whole thing).

Can it be done at Iowa, yes but it will more than likely be after KF is gone. I don't see KF as a sellout like Harbaugh.

Agree with this.
Question is, when will the ATHLETES have to start paying for their college degrees?

As of 11:00 AM, 12/20/2024, I have collected $0.65 in cans to be redeemed and the proceeds sent to our SWARM.
I promise to quit slacking and STEP UP MY EFFORTS!!!

Oregon against us next year will be like a pitbull loaded on PCP raping a poodle. We are not in the stratosphere of elite teams and the chasm gets wider every year. Mired in irrelevance.
