Outstanding Championship Game

Nova shot 58.3% for the game. I believe they were averaging 58.4% for the tournament. That's incredible.

I watched my first championship game in 1964 and every title game since. This was easily the most dramatic finish. The Valvano NC State finish is a close second.

There was a championship? Huh, I'm too focused on football to notice.

Made a KILLING jumping on the Villanova bandwagon after the Iowa game.

That +2 vs Oklahoma was just giving $ away.

I was WAAAAAY more nervous tonight, obviously, but the ol girl still didn't buck me off.

Thank you Villanova!!!

They are so good at getting good shots and their defense is phenomenal.

I dislike Nova's HANDS On approach to defense, if refs called it like the RULES state 3/4 of their team would be fouled out by 1/2 time every game, really to bad the only way they can play D is against the rules, but the refs to chicken little to call it like they WERE TOLD to this year.

Thank goodness the "cheaters" lost. So, exactly what penalties has NC received for 10+ years of academic fraud? And it wasn't all that long ago that their football program was penalized. Apparently they just cannot stop violating NCAA rules and the NCAA is apparently having trouble trying to penalize a blue blood program.

Uhmmm, they probably adjust to how the game is called. They won a lot of games and they weren't all because the refs swallowed their whistle.

One more thing that I liked was no long reviews at the end to delay the game. Great game!!

Yes I loved how they made a call and stuck with it! No long delays or anything.

I also thought the officials let them play last night which most officials do in a championship setting. I really hope Fran looks at Nova's defense and tried to employ that. I mean they have hands out swiping at the ball all the time. The thing I noticed about 80% of the time, NOVA players are swiping up at the ball, instead of down. That's why they get away with all the reaches, they are swiping up instead of down and the refs I seriously don't think its a foul.

I loved watching it during this tournament and that was a special team NOVA had. Glad they won the whole damn thing, after dismantling Iowa like they did.

Incredible indeed, but not nearly as incredible as the '85 title game when Nova beat Georgetown and shot over 78% from the field.

For my money the 85 team was more impressive because that Georgetown team was one of the greatest defensive teams that I ever saw.

The two best teams in the tournament by far, and there's a huge gap between them and everybody else. Nova rolled good teams along their way and Carolina was Carolina. Great game.

God damn it must be tiring going through life like this.

Yeah, I didn't state it too well, but my point was more to Nova's consistency over a six game (tournament, no less) stretch and the fact that their shooting percentage in the championship game was essentially identical to what they'd shot over the previous five.

And I agree that '85 performance was more impressive on a single-game basis. They needed a perfect game to beat Georgetown and they pretty much got it.
