That quote is only in the context that there was previous evidence given to them so that they should believe without seeing. Initial evidence is a huge part of truth faith. Even those written words by John are given as evidence so that we could have faith.Originally posted by overeasy:

Actually, faith that there is a God, and even biblical faith is commanded as to be from evidence. "Blind faith" is something I never want to participate in.Originally posted by fsu1jreed:
And maybe it is "faith", but it's "faith" dealing with observable evidence and extrapolating, not blind faith as in dealing with some omnipotent being outside our universe.
John 20: 24-26: Jesus saith unto him, "Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed. / Blessed are they that have not seen / and yet believeth."
My faith in God is not limited by evidence.
Jn 20:30-31 - Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. - (NASB)
The pattern in Scripture is that God would verify the words to His prophets with the evidence of miracles. And God plainly says there is evidence all around us of His existence.
Heb 2:1-4 - For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. - (NASB)
Ro 1:18-20 - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. - (NASB)
