Why would anyone care or have the right to say what someone else does with their property?
Of course they shouldn't be fined.
Looks like Alabama actually.Personally, there is no bigger peeve when driving through my neighborhood and seeing people park on their lawn. It looks like shit, and it makes everyone else look like shit.
BC it looks like shit and tears the hell out of the yards. Why would anyone care or have the right to say what someone else does with their property?
Of course they shouldn't be fined.
No, they don't. When they stop charging property taxes, then you can start over making your point. The town has a right, and even an obligation, to keep things looking attractive in order to support property values.
Partly. Personally, I don't want to be part of an HOA bc I don't feel like we really need to. I would say prob like 1 out of every 15 houses there is someone parked on their yard. There is one guy a couple blocks down that is running a body shop out of his front yard. He parks cars on his front yard and works on them, so not only is his yard trashed but that street is littered with broken down vehicles.Isn't this what Homeowners Associations are for?
Ya, fining them would be a huge burden financially. Especially if its a major through-way with no on street parking.I live in a crappy neighborhood. I have to park my work truck on the side of the driveway. There’s no other place for it.
I’d say at least 75% of the people here park in the grass. Many homes with 4-5 vehicles parked.

Typically I do not care what others do with their property, after all it's theirs. However, There are houses that are just straight mud all over their yard, tread tracks leading into the street, etc. It just looks really bad and makes the rest of us look really bad. Especially considering they have a driveway and on street parking.

Just think how much water is wasted watering lawns. One would hope we can outlaw that before we outlaw parking on your own lawn.Lawns are dumb. Let's outlaw lawns. Problem solved.
prob hard to back your trailer up without knocking over the meth lab inside of it.In my old neighborhood we had one of those car repairs at his house guys. That guy annoyed the shit out of me until he got arrested and locked away. He was also really bad at backing trailers up to his house and actually hit his house a few times. He would also block the road at times being really bad at backing up his trailer.
I think he was charged with molestation and meth charges which honestly is a bit of a parks cars in yard stereotype.
I'm conflicted. It definitely looks trashy, but I imagine there are some neighborhoods where it would be impractical to make it illegal.
It's a topic where I would need to hear arguments from both sides.
So you are against zoning ordinances? Why would anyone care or have the right to say what someone else does with their property?
Of course they shouldn't be fined.

OK, smart guy. Who owns the property? The city charges property taxes on the owner. If the city wants control over the property, then they can stop charging property taxes and become the de facto owner.
I hate the look of it and honestly despise it but it is their property and it's their right to be awful with it if they so choose.
I've had world-war 3 over that issue in my neighborhood and it's always been the 3-car garage vs the 2-car garage people. ...and I'm neither. I have a 4-car tandem; however, my house was built on a downhill decline so I have 4' of concrete to contend with which resulted in a 14' garage ceiling and a 9' stair case inside the garage. What does that mean? I can't realistically park two vehicles inside my garage. When my daughters still lived here, we had my wife's car in the garage with me and one daughter in the drive-way. My other daughter had to park in the street. Are they always parked on the lawn or just a few hours each week?
Do they have room to park in the garage? I’ve never understood the people that have a garage yet park outside. If you can’t park in the garage, maybe it’s time to get rid of some of the shit you have in your garage that you don’t use.
Honestly don't know. Maybe I need to clarify, they have the right to destroy their property if they so choose. That being said since I personally don't partake I 1,000% would support a city ordinance against it if the opportunity came about. It is their right, but if enough people choose that right then people around them lose property value. So do yard parkers have the right to lower the value of people all around them because they own a lot themselves?

Assume it is their usual parking spot when they are home. Are they always parked on the lawn or just a few hours each week?
