Party like it's 1985....or '95....

Depends on who you ask.

For Iowa, they're off to a 6-0 start that's only been matched twice since 1960 (1985 and 2009). Everyone remembers the 2009 season, but for those who weren't around back in 1985, Iowa stretched it's run to 7-0 that year, getting their seventh consecutive win to start the season against none other than Northwestern (in Evanston), by a 49-10 rout.

Northwestern, meanwhile, is thinking like it's 1995, the year they broke through and won the Big Ten, earning them just their second trip ever to the Rose Bowl (and second bowl bid, period, for that matter). In fact, Northwestern is literally thinking like it's 1995 as they announced that they're gonna be wearing 1995 replica jerseys for the game on Saturday to honor the '95 team.

Leave it to Pat Fitzgerald to do something like this for the Iowa game.

Great post. 1985 was a much better year. #1 Iowa vs #2 Michigan. Cats can't beat that

85 had 2 of the greatest games ever at Kinnick; people always talk about the Michigan game, but 2 weeks before there was another nail-biter vs Michigan St.
