As someone else mentioned, this goes in cycles so I thought I would shed some light so we don't ever forget our past history in the NCAA Tournament! In 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 we had 5 Hawkeyes in the Finals! In 1986, 1991 & 1997 we had 6 Hawkeyes in the Finals and in both 1986 & 1997 we had 5 Hawkeyes as National Champions! Then again in 2010 we had 5 Hawkeyes in the Finals! Some pretty darn good years and some pretty good years in between all of those! WE WILL BE BACK.............GO HAWKS!

I think you really mean is Hawkeyes are on their back. Kidding...nobody had forgotten Iowa past. What goes up must come down. Or at least back to the pack. It's not like Iowa had fallen completely off the page...your just not the best right now.

Yes, nearly everyone feels better when you win no matter the game or sport. these things rise and fall and if you look at the years when Iowa did not win, every year was at least a top 10 and if I am not mistaken, they have been top 5 finishes. IMO, it is not so much as not winning championships, but how far PSU has gotten ahead of the field. This is probably how the rest of the country felt during the Gable dynasty. So the key will be how well Iowa bounces back. If we take the Gilman approach after losing in St Louis and come back and kick some butt, we will be fine. If we continue to pout and complain, we will get what we deserve. This response may not please all of you, but I think we should embrace the challenge of getting back to the top.

I can remember stretching out and Rec Hall on the bleachers going to Sunderland years watching the Hawkeyes kick our butt. Finishing 17th or 20th. That's bad. Wondering if or when we would turn the corner. Now I can't get tickets...Hawks still place high..still peck the house..still have multiple AA every year. When the pendulum swings back I hope it doesn't swing all the way back as much as I would like to stretch out in Rec Hall

we do not need you here to tell us this.

Your post did more to depress me than pick me up. All those years you mentioned except 1 were 20+ years ago. This forum is starting to sound like a Gopher or Husker football forum.

One could not stretch out when Iowa came to PSU back in those days. That is B.S.

The problem now, is that one can't get a beer at Whiskers for a while. Back then, we had the bar to ourselves.

I's shocking the sport survived with one team having all that success....

I love Iowa wrestling. We fought hard this year and I'm proud of our guys. I just hate it when the idiots from the basketball and football board come over every March to lecture us on a sport they know nothing about. Other than that, I'm happy and extremely anxious for Lee, Warner, and company to arrive in Iowa City.
