Pastor Names Congregants That Are Skipping In-Person Church During Pandemic

Our pastor had a very stern meeting with one of the deacons after he overheard the deacon talking down about two members who hadn't been attending. Then the pastor addressed discussing people in that way during the next sermon. Basically said "If you follow Christ you won't do that, if you do that I'll assume you aren't following Christ"

Keep in mind, our pastor was 34 and had been the for about 4 months, the deacon was 60 and a lifelong member of the church. It was a BIG deal for him to not allow that to happen.

Oh, the two members? They had to go to another state suddenly to take care of a sick family member and had contacted the pastor about it.

It makes sense if a church through the pastor or another responsible member wants to call people who havn't been attending and follow up and see what's going on. Public shaming that makes no sense.
