Today on “The 700 Club,” a viewer told Pat Robertson about a “satanic cult” to which the viewer’s father allegedly belongs that supposedly “has put curses on my son and I,” and asked if the curses can “hurt us if we are both Christians.”

Robertson said the viewer must pray away the curses and “send those curses back where they came from.”

He also warned that witches are trying to put a curse on President Trump: “I read that a bunch of witches have gotten together to put a curse on Trump, and I think the Christians need to be praying for him to defend him,” he said.

Co-host Wendy Griffith added that “probably millions” of Christians were recently in prayer “canceling out those curses by the witches.”

Such a weird theology. So if the Christians didn't pray, their god wouldn't know about the problem? Or would know, but not think to act? It's like lord of the rings is a documentary for some folks.

The Pat Robertsons of the world need their viewers to believe that, otherwise how would he buy his houses?

I will continue to maintain that people like Robertson, Falwell, Osteen, etc are far worse for Christianity as a whole than any liberal, atheist, anti-religious activist. Too many on the other side of the fence hold those guys up as examples of "good" Christians, and they are anything but.

Except for the implication that liberals and atheists are bad for Christianity, I completely agree.

I thought everything was "God's will"? How will praying about it change anything?
I've often wondered this too. The sort of God Christians imagine should already know the problem and know your desires and know if it wants to intervene. Now pagan prayer made sense. Those gods didn't know everything and they could be bargained with. Christian prayer makes no sense at all.

My point was more that many Christians think that, not that it's true. Much like Jesus only lost his temper with the Pharisees and Sadducees because they twisted the word of God, the likes of Robertson do the same in this day and age. A lot of Christians see only a threat from "outside" their worldview instead of realizing that if the threat from within was taken seriously, there would be no threat from outside.

If 56,000 Iowa fans in Kinnick Stadium were praying for the last second FG to be good, and 4,000 Michigan fans weaseled tickets and prayed for the miss, would majority rule? Who makes the rules in Heaven?

Is Osteen a bad guy? I know he lives in a mansion and has a trophy wife....

It would just depend on whomever God likes the most and which way that guy/gal was praying.
