ESPN & Finebloomers specifically will enjoy this clip of one of his biased pics.

The ones that should really enjoy this is the playoff committee.....let's see if mighty Baylor DESERVES any consideration in the rankings

The NCAA should also weigh in on this.....

The Big XII should also weigh in on this.......

Pathetic team, pathetic conference if it does nothing.

That video doesn't provide any real information other than a team mate telling another team mate to go down.

For all you know he got his bell rung and his friend is looking out for him. Could be any number of other scenarios as well other than faking injury. You don't know. The video sure doesn't give context

When you are one of the best teams in the Country it hurts just that little bit more I guess. Shows how much heart they have.

The player would have been signalling the sideline instead of telling him to lie down, and the 'injured' player, would have called himself out instead of falling down and flailing around. Why so surprised? MSU's player *admitted* 'laying down" against Iowa a couple years back:

Jerel Worthy quote:

"When an offense is moving like that the smart move is to just go down and just take your time and don't kind of rush through it,
but that's what we went out, that's what we went out there and did."

Yup, a clear case of fake injury. Yet Herbstreit was forced to apologize.

If the injury was real, why did he come back in a series later?

So who had the pull to make Herbstreit apologize for being correct?

Perhaps ESPN got in his ear and said they couldn't have that sort of criticism of a team that they are trying so desperate to prop up?

I have always thought if a player is injured, they should be out the rest of the possession or a minimum of perhaps 5 plays) so they can get properly checked out. Of course, if a team wanted to slow down a game, they could just throw scrubs in there to take the bullet.

I guess Baylor's film study includes the 1950s Notre Dame "Fainting Irish." Those Bears--they leave nothing to chance. Notre Dame is proud as history repeats itself. Well done, fellas.

Ok, well if the guys caught faking injury, are now saying it's swollen and sore, I'm sure we can take them at their word.

Did they look at his ankle at all during the injury timeout? Did he remember to limp on the right ankle?

Briles is a POS, glad to see them lose.

Looks and sounds like he tweeked his ankle on the play. Instead of limping off the field or playing through it, his teammate told him to lay down forcing an officials time out. So, he didn't "fake" an injury, he "exaggerated" it.

I don't like it. But, I don't know what to do about it. Perhaps making them stay out for more plays (as suggested above) is the answer.

The linked story says he had the ankle re-taped and missed 8 or 9 plays. That seems to be taking the "act" pretty far. But not to some on this board, I guess.

Im sorry but if a player is seriously injured and play needs to be stopped. Then that player should be out for the rest of the quarter. While I realize some players are "seriously" hurt and need to go down. Then they should be out for a limited time. They should not go down and then 3-4 plays later come back in.

With these hurry up offenses you see teams more and more "faking" injuries to slow the other team down. I would like to see the NCAA put in a rule, if a player goes down while the other team is driving and moving the ball. Then said player is out for the rest of the quarter. Penalize them if they are going to "cheat".

So he didn't fake it and I was right. A tweaked ankle at this level can easily mean the difference in the entire game especially at that position

If it was simply faking why would he tell his team mate to do it instead of just going down himself

Some of you need some serious perspective. You automoatically seeinrg cheating in that video says an awful lot about you.

I've seen a whole lot of hurry-up offenses this season, and not very many times have I seen this happen. Off the top of my head I can't think of a single time I questioned the reason for the timeout.

Disagree strongly with your suggestion. I think a play is enough. What is a kid with a cramp supposed to do, for crying out loud? Miss the whole freaking quarter for a non-serious injury that goes away in a couple of minutes? Or how about guys who get their bell run but shake it off and are negative on the concussion tests? Or how about a guy who gets the wind knocked out of him?

You seem to be saying that play shouldn't be stopped unless a player is crippled or something.

If the game is halted for that player, then yes they need to sit out. Iowa vs MSU a few years ago, Iowas driving late in the game and on 3 occasions MSU players went down (1 player actually walked for 15 steps and then fell down). You see it all the time in other games. Saturday night in the Zona vs Utah game there were players who would fall down and act hurt, and 2 plays later back in. How is it fair to the offensive team who has a rhythm going?

It is taking advantage of the game and its basically cheating. Just like with the helmet coming off, they now make them sit. I say if a player is "intentionally faking" an injury they must be held out for a quarter. Some coaches actually teach their players if a team is high paced and going fast to fall down and act hurt. Its a joke and pathetic. Iowa doesn't run hurry up and I could care less because I don't think anyone in the Big 10 runs that fast.

I just think the NCAA needs to do something about that, its a disgrace to the game. If you are truly hurt you will need more than 2-3 plays to get healed up. Otherwise limp, walk off the field and get a sub.

Yes, his ankle hurt so bad that all of the trainers were sitting around his upper body talking to him.

Apparently they need to teach the Baylor trainers where the ankle is on someone's body.

Exactly. Absolutely no chance that was a real, they DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT HIS ANKLE!!! If he was really hurt the medical staff should be fired for not knowing where the ankle is.
