The Avengers was one of the first of the great BBC imports. Macnee and Dianna Rigg were the definition of cool.

MacNee was great but I really liked me some Emma Peel back in the day......

Diana Rigg was beyond hot.

She also wasn't the first Emma Peel. That was Honor Blackman, aka Pussy Galore.

Rigg is still acting, but not quite as hot. Still a tough broad though. GOT fans can attest.

Off on a tangent warning. Honor Blackman and Richard Basehart are in a great Columbo episode where they play married stage actors in Great Britain. (Columbo is there to visit Scotland Yard.)

Weird thing about the Avengers - for some reason I have many memories of when I was watching the show. It must have been stimulating to my young brain or something. This news really made me sad.

Rigg was the only Emma Peel. Honor Blackman was Cathy Gale, and Linda Thorson's character was Tara King.

It is worth noting that with Macnee and Christopher Lee passing away within a week that's two men who served in WWII. Both saw some significant action.

I knew Tara King was a different character. I didn't realize Blackman didn't play Peel. Thanks.

Anybody else remember the last episode with Rigg and how it ended?

IIRC, she got word her husband was found alive and she was leaving immediately to be reunited. It was a very tearful goodbye scene with Steed, who was in shock.

Some of the outfits they had Mrs. Peel wear were incredible. Gotta love some of the fashion of the 60's.
