You know, the out of control ones that don't go in? Not just last nights' game but this is a growing pattern with him. Every shot attempt with him needs to be a highlight. Last night ISU did not build their first half lead with three point shots. They built the lead with layup after layup. Boring ole layups. No highlight crossover floating bank shots, just a contested or not contested made layup. Wish the Iowa Hawkeyes had a little more of that. I wish Patrick's game was more like Aaron White's game was. Aaron would drive and draw a foul EVERY time. He was so good at it.

I hammered on this last year. His floater is not effective. I like PMac and think he’s a good player but he needs to learn how to take it to the rim draw contact like Aaron white who got to the ft line a ton or pull up in the lane. Because the tear drop shot especially from the side angles is a low % shot.

Any player can struggle with a shot for a period, but their effort in other areas can make up for it or even jump start a shot. The last two games I have seen PMac mailing it in on defense, rebounding and other hustle plays. I‘m not sure he’s the player I hoped he’d be…. I agree on the floaters as well.

Patrick is not physically capable of going to the rim and drawing a foul.

Just to pylon* his floaters are complete adlibs so often. Starts a move then has to readjust mid-air or get it swatted.

In his defense I wonder if he still has stamina issues. From his facial expression he looks gassed all the time.

PM is making bad decisions/shots offensively, loafing on defense, and not rebounding IMO. He needs to sit, but FM is his father, so probably not going to happen. Iowa BBall is not in a good place due to bad coaching decisions IMO.

The attempted bank shots from 12 feet on a drive are a bad look.

On a drive against ISU, he drove hard to the hoop but instead of throwing up the bank from 12 feet, he stopped, turned and hit a sweet fadeaway jumper.

He needs to mix that in and then he'll be able to get by his defender with a little stop and go move.

You know the more frustrating thing is the amount of fouls he has the opportunity to draw too, he’s shouting 83% from the charity stripe. He’d at least make up a little of the lack of defense & rebounding he offers.

I honestly I think he’s out of shape, and doesn’t work on his conditioning in the off season much from the looks of it. Not sure what he does work on, he seems to strive off of being a mismatch but hasn’t improved in any area really significantly. He’s added about 20lbs when he was 40lbs underweight for his size. I know he’s had health issues and that’s been a big part of that, but he’s getting undeserved minutes and costing us possessions and points.

It looks like everything he does is adlib.

He starts making moves to the basket with no clear way of getting there.
