payroll tax break

I mean, what the hell? When you're the author of record deficits and debt, what's a few trillion more.

I sure hope one can opt out of this disaster in the making.

You people are so naive.

It's a poison pill for the democrats in the House. They will never allow this to happen so they'll pass a law forgiving the income tax debt.

It’s nothing more than Trump playing to uninformed voters. It literally has no benefit except pretending to buy a few votes.

I’ll give Trump credit. He knows how to placate to the uneducated even when it doesn’t benefit them.

Already hit that number for the year...EFF YOU TRUMP!

Leave the funding of SSI alone you stupid ****s. In fact, raise the income ceiling up to 400k ceilng from the current $137k or so which will allow SSI to thrive and stop borrowing against it!

Hmm. What is to say that a self employed person with an LLC or an S-Corp or something where they pay themselves a small wage and get compensated in dividends; temporarily increase their personal payroll right up to the max to take full advantage assuming congress will forgive .

So are people going to rush out and vote for Biden so he can turn around and raise taxes on you and make your paycheck smaller? Might want to think before you go with Joe and the Ho.

Clearly you don’t understand what this payroll tax deferral means.

It’s a tax holiday between September 1 and April 2021. Any payroll taxes not collected during that time have to be repaid in April. This will be a rude wake-up call to working Americans who thought they were getting a permanent tax cut.

This is a short-sighted political stunt by Trump to get reeelected. There is no larger policy play here. It’s a bribe on stupid Americans.

In the meantime, how do Social Security and Medicare get funded, Trad? You want Congress to use the general fund at this point?

This is a short-sighted political stunt. There’s no vision or larger policy at play here. It’s a deferred tax on the stupid.

Doesn't matter as long as they pwn the libs.

My company sent this memo out:

On August 8, President Trump signed an Executive Order directing the Treasury Department to allow employers to temporarily suspend withholding the employee’s share of Social Security (OASDI) and Medicare taxes from their paychecks if the employee’s taxable wages fall within a certain dollar amount. This suspension would be limited to wages paid from September 1 through December 31, 2020.

For the President’s Executive Order to take effect, Congress will need to enact certain corresponding changes to the tax law. In the event Congress does make these changes, Company Name will implement the President’s order. Until there is a decision, Company Name is required to continue withholding these taxes from employee wages.

This memo is intended for employee awareness. No action is being taken at this time.

So they will still be taking out taxes as they basically deemed the Executive Order to not be valid without Congress changing the tax law.

If you want to continue income tax withholding, you can simply change your Form W-4 and write in a flat amount to be deducted each paycheck.
That’s correct for income tax withholding but not for payroll taxes. You work in HR don’t you?

Kind of how the Democrats placate to minorities. key to politics these days is know how to manipulate your base.

Both parties have their weakest link(s):
