This week is $$$$ Week for PBS and sometimes they have really interesting specials.....I watched the program "Roy Orbison...Forever" the other day and found it really good.
Roy is "my generation" and really had a solid influence on pop music in the '60's and into the '80's. Popular in the US and even more popular in England. Fantastic song writer and intriguing voice. The guy had a ton of BIG hits. He died much too young.
He at one time lived in Wink, Texas and there he had one John Hayden Fry as a teacher.......Fry remembered Roy as a kid he threw out of class and sent to the Principal's Office! (I heard Hayden tell this story one night at an Iowa Football banquet.) Small world, eh?
If this program shows again, and if you like '60's rock n'roll, this is definately worth your watch....and you can send PBS some of your $$ too!
