Yes, sir, the often-maligned trio did a terrific job today overall, and that led to the W. Without every positive thing those three did, Iowa loses. End of story.
Playing in that barn isn't easy. Minnesota is not a bad basketball team. And, of course, facing the usual inept officiating made today's game challenge enough, but then Garza gets three or four phantom fouls, CJF doesn't dress, Weiskamp plays the poorest game of his college career, Iowa only scores 58 points, but because of Pemsl, Evelyn, and Kreiner, Iowa wins anyway. Yes, sir, this could be the biggest win of the year, all things considered.
Evelyn tossed in those two FTs that gave Iowa the lead it would never relinquish like he was shooting in his backyard, after already hitting a HUGE three, and he also helped rattle the Gophers with tough D down the stretch.
Kreiner blocked that deep three at the end and scored inside.
Pemsl scored, and rebounded, and played D. Best game of the year when his team needed it most.
You just can't possibly give enough credit to those three young men who, in the face of great adversity, refused to lose. Well done, guys. This is why it's called a "team."
