Was looking at their roster all their best players are freshman and juniors, young team like Iowa. Also don't have a single senior on the team which is weird.

But they have 4 guys averaging 11 points or more. They are the only B10 team I don't think I've seen much of this year, just one game. What are their strengths? Also weaknesses?

I hope they don't come playing lights out, sick of lately every game with them being a nail biter. Hope we just steamroll them and keep the momentum going into the BTT.

They are a young ball club who struggled on the road early on. They have since figured it out and are playing pretty good ball lately, just haven't been able to get over the hump. They have been close in their last few games against some good competition. They won @ILLINOIS as well. They can hit the 3 or attack the lane. Their guards are quick and their bigs are pretty strong inside players.

That PG they've had Shep? He is streaky 3pt shooter. I think Iowa needs to guard 3pt line early...we don't want some guys having career game from 3pt line.

I saw PSU play Indiana and PSU is pretty athletic defensively. Maybe not unlike Illini...they will get in Iowa's grill defensively.

Penn State has hit some homeruns with instate recruiting. They are shallow in the post with only two guys bigger than 6'7" Lamar Stevens. They also only go about eight deep.

Offensively, this is a good team for us to get the ball low and try to get Watkins in some foul trouble early.

Defensively, they are streaky outside shooters and we'll need to identify Garner and Banks. Limit their open looks.

Thanks Dan, I haven't seen them play this year either as the opportunity said.
Having read what you say it seems we need to continue doing much of what we have done the last 2 games. Get Cook and Pemsl and to lesser degree but hopefully not too much less, Kreiner touches in the paint where they can attack inside and if doubled kick out to our shooters, Jok, Bohannon, Moss, Baer, and Ellingson. Spacing on offense and no second shots on defense. Last 2 games our defense has IMO been the key to our wins. Very solid and Cook especially securing big rebounds. J bohanon, has been terrific and Baer even better with all he does, but it has been a team effort. Let's get this one and start planning for a B1G run ending in another trip to the Dance.

"Op said" versus "opportunity" in my previous response...,shakes my head at auto correct again , it's becoming a bane of my existence

I see this as a trap game. I do not believe Iowa has anything to gain by beating PSU and a loss will mean they will have to at least get to the B1G title game (I am on record in another thread that they will win the B1G Tournament this year). Iowa will win easily, but not going to help much in the RPI.

Too many games to be played and too much to think about but yeah winning Big Ten Tournament would be really great. This year how much difference is there between the favorite and everybody else?

make shots...press/trap...if you can get Penn State going side ways they will turn the ball over...especially Carr..he will make some plays and then turn around and make some bone head decisions.

Every game makes me nervous ...BUT...I feel good about this game with Penn State being young...if Carver isn't rocking tomorrow...shame on us.

18-13 (10-8) with 4 wins over ranked teams (2 on the road) is pretty good considering we started the season 3-5. To me the NCAA tournament bids should not be decided on what happen in November...especially to team that has 1 senior-2 sophs & 4 freshman in their top 7.

The psu PG looks to be a potential star. Hawks need to do what they've had trouble with; keep an opposing point out of the lane.

Good point. Hardly any team is the same in March as they were in November.

They have a big guy inside that is strong, athletic and has played pretty good defense. These guys will be tough and I think our young athletic guards could play a very important role....Moss and Williams playing strong defense.

agree...very talented...this might be a game where a CWilliams could be a factor on defense...I really like our soft press & trapping..if anything it gets that shot clock down before the opponent can get into their stuff...

Iowa played great! So happy for this team we are in the NIT, and acouple wins in the tourney away from the Tourney, maybe 3. Why is Syracuse a 10 seed with a 78 RPI? And isn't their record same as ours but one less win?

Cook is rebounding like we need him to,Baer is shooting the 3 great lately. Cook and Baer both double doubles. JoBo is going to go down as the all time 3 point leader in school history most likely.
I'm looking forward to the basketball team over the football team in upcoming years and I can't believe I'm saying that!!!
