Per ESPN: Kirk Ferentz is college footballmost overpaid coach

Brady Hoke made $14.4M with Michigan over 4 years.

With DickRod, Michigan kicked in $2.5M to get out of his WVU contract, then paid him $2.5M to leave. $5M in dead money to come and go along with an average annual of $2.5M.

How'd those investments pay off for your beloved Wolverines?

1 bowl win with Hoke using DickRod's players.

3-9
5-7
7-6
11-2
8-5
7-6
5-7

46-42 overall.

From a comparison standpoint, and adding in the program expectations aspect - you guys ran the equivalent of Iowa going every one of those seasons with less than 2 wins each year. Half your fan base was probably cranky even after the 11-2 year cause you still lost 2 games. The rest in a Michigan world were abject disasters.

Barta has to ride this one out because he is hitched to Ferentz and the golden contract. One of the board of regents said something recently about Gary Barta being a "nice guy" and that his future with Iowa would be up to the new president which is expected to be hired in early Fall. It didn't sound like a glowing endorsement. Throw in the current problems with field hockey and claims of sexism with his coaching terminations. If Ferentz bombs this season and goes anywhere close to .500 with one of the easiest schedules in the country then they may actually have to make a change. I honestly get why Barta gave him the contract. Obviously, everyone knows that Kirk was pursued by several NFL teams throughout his tenure at Iowa and at given points I have heard both Michigan and Penn State wanted to make a push for him. Imagine what would have happened if Barta lost Ferentz at the time? Our fan base would have imploded. They shouldn't have given him the 10 years but he was easily worth every single penny at the time of the contract.

Michigan have Ferentz a look, but went with Hoke. KF lack of recruiting and vanilla schemes wouldn't fly in Ann Arbor

Michigan had the sense to drop the dead weight in both cases and hire a home run coach. Iowa brass is happy with average. I feel sorry for the Iowa fans
You said that after they hired Hoke too.

I think Harbaugh is a good hire but GTFO here you dipshit troll

Yeah Hoke was obviously the correct choice there. And with the exception of the disastrous RichRod spread experiment, MI is as vanilla as it gets. And if you don't think KF could win at MI with the talent he'd be able to recruit there, well not only are you a bad troll, but a stupid one, as well.

You guys are letting Bubba troll you to death. The best thing to do is ignore, responding feeds the beast.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure anyone could recruit at Michigan. Do you understand the built-in disadvantages that Iowa has compared to the rest of the Big Ten? We don't have anywhere near the high school talent of a state like Michigan, I'm sure your facilities are top-notch, tradition, etc. You are a highly populated state with a lot of talent and while you also have two major in-state schools so does Iowa. Ferentz would have built national championship level offensive lines at a place like Michigan and you will routinely have one of the top running backs in the country come out of your state. He would have ran people into the ground. I think Ferentz would have dominated if he ever went to a place like Michigan or Penn State but that's just my opinion. He would have ran people into the ground with the vanilla schemes.

My only interest in Bubba is trying to figure out if he's Mulva. I just can't imagine there could actually be TWO people that stupid. Mulva inspired the greatest thread in the history of Hawkeye Report....and I'm just hopeful this moron can give us something inspirational, as well. So far he's been a disappointment.

This is exactly what Michigan fans thought when DickRod and Hoke were hired.

Rinse and repeat.

Michigan fan stuck trolling Iowa fans, oh how the mighty have fallen... So sad.

I guess that happens when Iowa routinely beats the Wolverines in football.

This is my feelings exactly.

If a Michigan fan (troll or not) has to troll Iowa, they must have sunk to depths unseen prior.

Oh my.........Ferentz's record against the MI schools; KF has a winning record against both:

Mich St. Fry 11-3-1 Ferentz 7-6
Michigan: Fry 4-11-1 Ferentz 6-5

Seriously though, why are you here? Makes no sense as we're not even rivals. I think bubbaj has a little bit of the "I AM SAM" syndrome

No problem with the contract extension....I agree the 10 year was absurd!

This is laid at the feet of the AD.
The contract extension was ridiculous.
My secret hope at the time was that Kirk would have taken an NFL job and left Iowa on a high note.
I would have counted that as a win for both parties.

Now if only you could beat Iowa St KF might earn that $1 million per win every season

What's it like losing to Wisconsin, Ohio St, Michigan St, Minnesota and Iowa regularly? Must really suck being the second fiddle in your own state huh?

Did the 3-3-5 exotic defense and the exotic read option fly in Ann Arbor. It's been a lot of years of mediocrity in Michigan. Frankly with the way Harbaugh is recruiting there is nothing to think its going to turn around with him either. Of course the fact that you continue to come to Iowa"s board to convince us of Harbaughs greatness, shows me you are kind of worried about it as well.

Needs 4 wins a year to do it which he has done. And yeah doesn't do well against ISU but still better record against Michigan. Speaking of rivals how has Michigan fared of late against OSU and Michigan St?

Oh......that was cold.

You have no idea what you are talking about do you? 1 million per win every season? If he beat Iowa State last year and made 1 million a win he would have made 8 million dollars last year. You really are an idiot.

Kliff Kingsbury-Texas Tech HC- has a 24 million dollar GUARANTEED contract through 2020. He has a grand total of 12 wins in his career as a HC. If he were to max out the "bonuses" built in his contract, he could earn 34.7 million by 2020. A guy with a 12-13 record making on avg, 3.5 mill-guaranteed, until 2020,... should, currently sit at the top of their list.

Over the past 7 years, Michigan is paying a lot more per win than Iowa.

You're welcome. I'm amazed Iowa fans are content with average football with KF
I'd like to see Michigan back in the picture again. I'm tired of Ohio State. It has been too long. I think Harbaugh will be able to right the ship. He coached Stanford to success with lesser talent than what Michigan is used to getting. And if UM starts winning again, they will get the better recruits over MSU.

Here's the part you and so many on this board don't get. You aren't content and I supposedly am content and guess what idiot? We are in the same place. I'm just happier and don't spend my life bitching on a message board to strangers because nobody in my real life cares what I think. You get what I'm trying to say?

I could be happy Iowa was 7-6 last year or I could be pissed about it. Either way I had nothing to do with it so it's really not that hard for me to accept.

Michigan is average and nothing is pointing to they will be anything but average this year. Your coach led San Francisco last year to a 8-8 record. That's about as average as you can get. Considering the talent he had on that team, I would say that was a pretty crappy coaching effort. But you at least you got a few Iowa Hawkeye fans to buy into your . Im guessing you aren't very welcome on any Michigan sites.
