Let’s support our winter athletes. This is a group effort. Myself and Larry Lee are a
Part of the core group and we will continue to do what we can to support all these athletes. Please share this and sign the petition.

Good work John. I can't imagine why the NCAA would not grant a one semester waiver. To not do so means that each of those athletes lose 25% of their post season opportunities. I hope Hawkeye Nation gets behind this. Lugo deserves a senior year. Lee deserves a shot at four titles and the list goes on--this is easy to support. Please spread the word everywhere.

Should we be more concerned about the 375M in lost revenue from March Madness that won’t be going back to Athletic Dept’s?

It’s devastating for those 330 who didn’t get an opportunity to compete but moving forward do we have a bigger fight on our hands as a sport?

The problem is this gets more complicated when looking outside wrestling. The brackets were filled and it would be easy to just give those that qualified for NCAAs an additional year and those seniors that had completed their last season are done.

What about the sports that did not have the NCAA bracket (or equivalent) filled in. Nebraska basketball seniors had completed their season so logic dictates those seniors do not get a year, but what about teams still in their conference tournaments who would have had a chance, al though slim, to make the tournament? It gets too messy.

That’s true for sure, anything can happen, but this gives a baseline. And with ten qualifiers versus seven Iowa has more bullets to withstand some of those things and come out ahead. I’ll admit it’s not a slam dunk. But I think if Spencer, Marinelli, Desanto, and Kemerer all reasonably make it through their two years Iowa would come out ahead.

I received a phone call today that the NCAA is taking a look at the winter athletes. This is great news. Apparently most of the meeting was about the Spring. We need to continue to show our support for those athletes through petitions, social media and any platform we have.

Lol, listen, I love these kids, Iowa, PSU IDC. This is the greatest sport and the least appreciated. Idc about negative comments. Sign the petition and thank you very much! I sure hope these great athletes can get back to the place where they are not robbed of the thing that matters most to their season, that is the whole reason for competing through the rest of the year.

I agree with this. As much as it hurts (as a fan) to not have a chance to win a team title this year, it absolutely kills me more that all 10 of our guys lost one of their chances to be a national champion. I wish they, and every other wrestler, could get that chance back.
