It's gamely Saturday and all season SP has been a fan punching bag about his play. I went back and looked at Nate's first year stats to see if the fans had a legitimate excuse.

As you can see SP is on pace yards and completion % wise to have a similar 1st year as NS did, I will say the TD's would be the glaring difference. Nate threw for 26 threw all games and Spencer is on pace to throw only 8. This Iowa team is much better at running the ball than Nates first year. Does SP have room to grow, absolutely. I think the base is there for him to grow into a good starting QB. This year has been unique and with no spring ball and not a real fall camp, I think SP has done well. I also think SP would have a few more TD's had Iowa played its non-con games. I think we are fine at QB, lets give the kid a chance to grow and learn.
