Pew Pew Illinois: 34 shot

It's very sad, if only we could identify what tool makes it so easy to kill in this country, we could make progress on reducing homicides.
Yup. And only if there was a place we could confine shitty people who continue to give zero fvcks about others, we could use it and begin to live with less danger. But alas...we are a simple, stupid people.

We have been doing that for years, little has changed in relation to gun violence. I agree it is simple and stupid for someone to believe incarceration will affect change now when that course of action has failed to create change in the last 50+ years.

And here we are in a thread about 34 shootings in a state with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. And I'd wager a small amount of these shootings were done with the kind of gun the anti-gun folks really want to get rid of.

But why is it always Chicago? Why Illinois? Why not all the cities and states far more violent? It's a total agenda.

Just imagine the bottom line on the balance sheet for gun manufacturers, ammo distributors, or the NRA if we reformed gun laws?

Can't have that!

It's not always Chicago. It's everywhere. New Mexico, Memphis, Ft. Dodge, etc. Pew Pews happen everywhere. 34 in 2 days seems like a big number. No? Why don't you complain in the other pew pew threads about the location? Why is only Chicago off limits?

Chicago isn't off limits. I just question why the right only brings it up when it comes to violence? It's like there is a hardon since it resides in a heavily Democratic state and it's where Obama is from.

It's weird watching Rs flex on Chicago for gun violence. The self awareness is non existent.
It's weird watching the propaganda arm of the DNC ignore the gang and gun violence in Chicago. That they only focus on mass shooting, by white folks, seems like they are pushing a DNC talking point to make a point of getting more gun control.

It's certainly not why I do it. I do it because we overlook these shootings and I don't think it's fair to those getting killed. We focus only on the school shootings perpetrated by people with AR type guns when the reality is that there are numerous children getting shot every day. But because it's gang violence, or there's no crazy Nazi with a manifesto or they're not not killed with the right kind of bad gun, it doesn't get the attention. I don't care about the politics of it one bit. 34 people got shot. That's a lot.

Agreed, this was almost assuredly handguns, which should be the focus, but those that want change are too weak even to suggest handguns be restricted.

Drastic changes must be made to combat violence, so let's counter with greater violence. All infractions that involve a firearm result in immediate execution. From the obvious crime of homicide down to carrying a gun and getting caught speeding.

The only exceptions are nonviolent offenders with registered guns and a personalized security feature. ( facial or fingerprint recognition etc) Those that are executed are taken to the local rendering facility and disposed of along with their weapon. Lets try this for 5 years and review data to see if there is a positive impact on gun violence.

That tool is called lack of respect for the law, and lack of fear for any consequences for breaking said law. Anything else is a deflection or a straw man.

With all due respect Ed, it is a deflection to infer that guns do not make it easier to kill. We supply soldiers, police, and security with firearms because it is easier to kill a person.
I certainly can not do a drive-by stabbing from 20 feet.
I agree that rule of law and consequences are not a deterrent to violence and there need to be societal changes to affect change, but access to weapons is certainly also part of the problem.

I’m all for it. You’d get the most pushback from far left democrats though, due to the racial disparity and the impact it would have on black youth.

No, I think it would be more of a Ben Crump or Al Sharpton sighting to take place.

On a day-to-day act of gun violence, JFC, you are acting dumb, are you really this dumb?
Ben Crump shows up to acts that personally benefit him, how would two randoms shooting each other in Chicago benefit him personally?

Would love to see this tried, but the courts would never allow it. Cruel and unusual punishment, backdoor circumvention of 2nd amendment rights, etc. I like the outside the box thinking, though.

WTH does Obama have to do with it?
And he’s not from there. He lived there at some point for a few years but he grew up In Hawaii and went to school in Cali, NYC and Boston.
This isn’t about him at all.
